Week 2: Leaderboard

BBC Strictly Nora BBC Strictly Nora Online team

After a thrilling second week it was all change on the Strictly leaderboard, Mr Fantastic Gymnastic Louis Smith flipped up to first place; Darcey describing his Foxtrot as 'calm confident and controlled'. Fellow sportsman Michael Vaughan found himself at the bottom of the board after a performance Bruno described as 'so bad it was good' and Craig called 'the oddest Jive I have seen in 10 years of Strictly'. Here's all our scores on the floors for week two.

Hmm. around about right, though Johnny should be lower down, as he is extremely stiff, and yes, nicky forgot his steps, but he can move!

Only the second week and I'm amazed at how well everyone is dancing. Best for me last week was Lisa - amazing. This week I think it was Denise for me. Loved that Jive hon. And on a negative, Michael's dance was just weird with a capital W

Why is the leader board above the opposite way around? It's not displayed as a 'leader board'!
The leaders aren't at the top?!?!

Wouldn't it make more sense to have the top picture at the bottom and the bottom picture at the top ?

Great show. The standouts for me were ( in no particular order) Colin, Lisa and Denise. But please please Strictly James do something about these blogs ! Can't we at least have most recent post first? And does anyone know when all the teams will have their own page? There are one or two dotted about but not all as yet.

    Hi all,

Well that was a great crazy at times night we have descended into silly props again but the only complaint from a behind the scenes perspective as long as we don't go into the silly VT's I'll be a happy bunny.

Now for the positives and negatives someone had made a comment that they are not warming to Denise and Victoria and I have to disagree because I am warming to them very much Denise's jive was bang on the money ideal music choice and she was enjoying herself and she looked it. Victoria she had the nerves last week but she has overcome them there were some dodgy moments in their Foxtrot not many but a few but with Brendan's comforting reassurance and confidence boosting she is getting there.

Team RiRo are holding their own and what I like about Lisa is she comes out fighting no matter what dance or chereography she is given she comes out and gives it 100% has a real go granted she would not be technically good but hey I'm not looking for the next big thing in dance what I'm looking for is entertainment and this lady provides it in spades and as I said before I do not know how long Team RiRo are going to last but keep them in for a few weeks at least or more.

Shock surprise for me would have to be Louis and Flavia they have thrown down the gauntlet and are major contenders for me now their Waltz had it all fine dancing and fine storytelling and I loved it.

Fern and Artem and boy is she loving her Russian toyboy and it shows his loving arms round her holding her my guess splash of aftershave on to bring Fern under his seductive spell and lovingly cuddling her to start off the routine and ending it would like to see them for a few more weeks.

Now with the negatives and these are with my bottom three now Nicky might have sold the dance but for me it was out of time and some of it reminded me of Kenny Logan when he danced to the late Micheal Jackson track Billie Jean he shook his hips and gave his bum a workout and agreed he made an attempt didn't set my world alight but it was okay the problem I have with Nivky is his defeatest attitude he wants to throw in the towel now and the judges laid into him for the 2nd week not having a nice word to say but the thing is you get slated by the judges you come back next week if your kept in hungrier than ever for the competition and show the public the reason they voted for you that week with Nicky I don't see it and as I said in my review he's either heading for the door or a dance off my hope is a dance off and if it is dance like he means it and dance like he wants it come out on fire and then come back a contender for next week.

    Just my thoughts

And now for the bizzare crazy and just plain lazy.

Michael and Natalie I mean the routine was so cheesy and crazy it was hard to know what they were dancing so many steps out of time and it was just so bizarre from start to finish a kind of so bad it was good routine. Richard and Erin well firstly the costume what was Richard thinking I mean we had Colin in a Julie Goodyear cast off jacket and we have this week Richard dressed in a jacket which I might guess he had some didgy floral wallpaper he had lying around and made into a jacket and then the routine the most campest thing I have seen since watching Lily Savage host Blankety Blank I mean he had camp dancing hip and bum wiggles and lip pouting as well and that was just Richard.

So my saves and bottom three for this week.

    Guranteed Saves

    Lisa and Robin
    Louis and Flavia
    Victoria and Brendan
    Dani and Vincent
    Denise and James

    Fern and Artem
Johnny and Iveta(Hate to say it I found them entertaining would like to see them for another week)
Jerry and Anton(Yes she is lazy as sin she did not even break sweat tonight Anton did all the work she just posed and stuck to him like a praying mantis but would like to see them next week)
Richard and Erin(In the battle of the wacky dances they might just have clinched another week for me)
    Sid and Ola
    Kimberley and Pasha

    Bottom Two

    Nicky and Karen
    Micheal and Natalie

    Going Home

Micheal and Natalie( Reason being I want Nicky to dance like he wants to stay in this competition and show he has the drive to come out fighting and stop being defeatest and also if there was one dance that would send Micheal home then that was it)

    Well that's me for tonight
See you all for the results show
    Keeeeeeep Dancing

QUESTION - if there is a tie in votes after the judges have voted in the dance off who decides which couple leaves?????

I know Len as head judge in the past had the casting vote, but will that happen again or will the couple with the fewest viewer votes go - like some show that I can't remember the name of ............

It's nice to see that Johnny isn't the automatic choice for first out. His dancing is lively and his relationship with Iveta is charming. She is doing a wonderful job. I'd really like Iveta to stay so we can see her again next year.

I think strictly should notice that nicky can dance and for the last two weeks the "lift" and the cha cha that the judges notice that it's more of boy band dancing... maybe you should replace A professional dancer that knows everything about strictly... So that nicky will have a chance to show his dancing skills... I know karen is a good dancer but she is not for strictly for now...

You know you have a good student and you know you had a good jive when it is the highest mark for that style you have done ever. I am a BIG fan of Victoria-Brendan but well done to JJ on his best mark for the jive in six attempts at that discipline. Credit where it is due to Denise-James as that 32 was more than deserved.

As well as being overjoyed about the big stride forward made by Victoria-Brendan, I am also pulling for Dani-Vincent because I am not exactly endowed in the height department so I am as equally as overjoyed for Dan-Vincent. She is exactly where her performance merits. The best of the two Salsa's and the 5th best dance overall for me. Everything they did was spot on to the beat. For example I counted from the start of the music and about 1 min 8 secs in they did that thing with their arms just before they broke away which was perfectly in time to the beat. A piece of inspired choreography by Vincent. They must have worked on that for ages.

In fact I felt improved performances for many really. Whether they merited the score allied to the score of others I don't know. Even Richard-Erin. I am replaying the routines back on iPlayer and IMHO I didn't see an awful lot of what Bruno and Craig were talking about. It must have been very small and hard to spot.

Again using the iPlayer I have to agree about Fergal's point about Michael-Natalie . I appreciate it is Natalie who devises the choreography but all the same I can now see how badly out of time and uncontrolled in the hip department he was. Fraid' to say it but he has to go.

Mind you it if was based on how utterly hot the pro is, I think Khristina is easily it.

So how come Victoria Pendleton scored so highly? No.1 she was meant to be dancing a foxtrot and that was no foxtrot, it was a passable wedding dance and thats about all!
