Victoria Pendleton leaves Strictly

BBC Strictly Nora BBC Strictly Nora Online team

After her second consecutive week at the bottom of the leaderboard it was the end of the road for Victoria who finally faced her fears and fellow sports person Michael Vaughan in the Dance Off. Sadly her performance wasn't enough to prevent her leaving the competition as the judges unanimously saved Michael.

Reflecting on her time Victoria said... “It’s been so much fun; I have loved every second of it. It pushed me totally out of my comfort zone which I think you really need to do in life. Brendan has been fantastic, the people behind the scenes here – the hair, make up, I love the costumes. It’s been a fantastic experience.”

As always we were first on the floor to find out how the remaining celebrities felt about Victoria's elimination.

If the judges marked down Michael on his last performance and this one showed no improvement whereas Victoria did, how come they voted her off!

Hi I googled strictly come dancing results and the daily mail had deleted a link to an article relating to Victoria being eliminated even before it was announced on tonight's results show. Hopefully the person who spoilt it for everyone will get caught.

Victoria and Brendon, so sorry to see you go, my votes were clearly not enough .... You were not the worst this week in my opinion but others are just seen more on TV usually like Lisa, Denise ... Good luck for the future and have a nice rest now and enjoy the festive season with friends and family. Well done.

Gutted. Poor girl never really stood a chance. The judges kick her out and then have the temerity to give her some pathetic half-hearted clap when they knew they had got what they wanted. It took till the last thing she did which was to acknowledge that she would have voted to keep Michael and Natalie for the judges to actually do something positive. Which was to stand up and applaud her. Which speaks volumes for the rest of the time.

The judges decision ought to be about who should go through and not who the judges prefer to see go through.

Correct result. Michael should never have been in the dance-off and was miles better tonight! The judges this year are all over the place and appalingly biased! The return of the dance-off gives them too much power, and the two things together have maid this the learst enjoyable Strictly to date; and I have watched them all! The power should be with the viewers!

Don't agree gorscot it was the right result but I do agree that the dance-off does give the judges too much power. Power which enables them to keep someone in that they prefer to keep in.

Why not let the judges pick who they want on the show, lets just have contestants with stage school training. The judges don't like athletes, they have to learn to dance and act and perform in public and the judges don't understand how hard it is for them and usually mark them down unfairly.

I have been wondering what sort of a dancer Natalie or Kristina would have made of Louis as I consider them more sensual dancers, more adventurous in their choreography and more patient with and sympathetic to their novice partners. Does anyone else have similar thoughts?

Probably the right two couples in the dance-off. Definitely the correct decision by the judges. Suspect they'd rather keep Michael in regardless, but in the dance-off he improved significantly - much less stiffness and far more dominant eye-focus on Natalie - whilst Victoria messed-up twice on her turns and made a complete Horlicks of the final lift. Brendan did well not to drop her!

Meanwhile am I the only one to wish Claudia would SHUT UP ABOUT LEN'S LENS BEING THE FIFTH MEMBER OF THE JUDGES. Every bloomin' time! It's as bad as Bruce's "Look at that! Look at that" when someone gets a standing ovation. And when you're being called as bad as Bruce, it's time to worry.

I agree with you if you don't want to know stay off line, i rather wait for the results on sunday night but any saturday night that I look or my nose was at me I never ever found any results so I wait for the sunday programme.

Comment 13- it hard to know. I think what was wrong with Kristina and Colin was his height - height size was more suited towards Natalie. We can see that Michael is working very hard on Strictly. He's more of a ballroom man than a latin man which you can get that is noone fault. i see what you are saying about Natalie and Kristina, but Flavia on satruday night I liked the routine and the choreography but what was wrong was the song it didn't suit it.

Victoria has been consistently weakest since the beginning - better dancers (Colin, Sid even Richard who at least performed)| have gone due to the public saving her time after time after time (this year's john sargent/widdi). S he seems a lovely person but too self concious though goodness knows why with her physique.......so she's probably glad to have gone.
I think MV didn't have enough actual dance steps choreographed........1st time I've not liked Nat's choreography - far too many lifts; although superbly done; so all he got to do was walk between them - he didn't have the chance to show he's mastered the ochos and ganchos etc(sorry if names wrong but you know what I mean) and I'm sure he's more than capable.

Remember, it's primarily TV entertainment. It will always be a bit of a lottery as to whether someone (like Victoria) gets to do a dance she is weaker in, whilst other competitors who have shown weaknesses in some styles get a dance that they do well in. I would have liked to see her do a charlston, as I think no one (?) has been in the bottom two with that dance. In previous years, until the last couple of rounds, there were usually only two different dances, and it was fairer to make comparisons. ( I guess this would make it difficult for those dances with external choreographers though)

    @Rufus re Louis

Yep I think Louis would have done better with Kristina for all the reasons you've said
Also think there would have been great chemistry between those 2
Something kinda missing between Flavia & Louis

"Victoria has not made any improvement since week 1
It really was her time to bow out"

    @ nanniemaisie..I'm in total agreement.
    Her departure was well overdue.

I think regardless of who ended up in the dance off with her she would've gone.
In fact, I think she would've gone any time she'd ended up in the dance off, had it happened in an earlier week, with the possible exception of being up against Johnny Ball.

When faced with a dance off, she gave us more of what we've had from week 1, someone who's clearly not comfortable doing what she's doing, unlike others, past and present, who've learned to commit themselves to the dances, develop characters and more importantly to maintain focus, concentrate and hide any self consciousness they might feel, the latter of which, I believe are central and crucial to any performance and something which all good and great sportspeople, actors, singers and dancers are able to do.

This, is why it comes as such a source of bewilderment to me as to why she's unable to do it as she clearly can on the cycling track and why she was touted as a "possible winner."

She still looks like an awkward little kid who wanted a part in the school play but, while everyone else is acting the socks off her, giggles her way through the entire show..
It's the sort of thing that any Year 7 Drama pupil has hammered home to them.

However, done is done, and I'm pretty sure that she's as relieved to be out as I am to see her gone.

Now, at least, we have people in who can dance well, although with different strengths and can mostly, with the possible exception of Louis, give us some sort of character and emotion in their dance roles, as well as competent dancing.

    Rich.
