Nicky Byrne leaves Strictly

Having managed to make it to the tenth week of Strictly, 2012, Nicky Byrne must have been feeling as though his nine lives were all but used up. He and Karen were no strange to the dreaded dance off, but after seen off Michael Vaughn just one week ago, the luck of the Irish finally ran out as Denise and James scored a unanimous judges vote against Nicky and Karen.

Characteristically positive and upbeat, Nicky said: “It has been just so much fun. It is the biggest and best show in the world. To come out every Saturday night is hard but it’s playing a different character, doing a different dance – it’s just been amazing. Karen, every week, every day has been incredible. We had a bit of a shaky start in terms of judges and stuff, but we just seemed to improve. I have to say thank you to the judges – you have been absolutely amazing with all your advice, all the people backstage – even the people that get you your coffee - I am going to miss the whole thing it’s been an amazing experience.”

With Nicky and Karen waving goodbye to the competition, we are now down to just five couples. Click below to see how they feel about this weekend’s results and the challenge ahead in next week’s semi-final.

This is getting ridiculous now. Lisa may be extremely enthusiastic but technically she is miles behind the others, including Nicky. I know he was bottom of the leaderboard and probably expected to be in the dance off but Lisa should have been there too. She may have got through, being a favourite with the judges who only see her face and not her feet!

Nicky has been consistently undermarked by the judges. His and Karen's Argentine tango last week was the sexiest thing I've seen in ages. Nicky's my Strictly Champion this year, and my 7-year old daughter agrees.

Thought Kimberley and Pasha were amazing last night and deserved 40 points. Think Lisa is good but am surprised she made it through to semi's and wasn't in dance off as she did make a few mistakes, it is a dancing competition not personality contest at the end of the day!

Travesty....Lisa's entheusiasm is fantstic, and she is very entertaining, but she should have been in the dance off.

How angry can a tv show make someone ? Id like to see the results of the popular vote and i think the BBC should be made to publish them...every week
I cant believe that Lisa's public vote is that strong. Who gave Nicky and Karen the most difficult fusion dance...did Karen choose it or was it decided by the production team. I used to appreciate and admire Craig's opinion but a 5 ! I think that score must be hiding some background story somewhere as it certainly wasnt on the dance floor . All in all it makes for a very unhappy previous SCD fan.

I feel really sorry for Nicky and Karen. They did not deserve the low vote or nasty comments from Craig and they certainly did not deserve to leave the competition.

I cannot believe that Nicky has been voted out I think that it is about time the judges should look at the dancing and not be worried about upsetting larger ladies!!!!

Shame on you judges ! Denise and James were certainly not without fault in that dance off whereas Nicky and Karen really raised their game. That result was not about the second dance rather more that James and Denise were your preference to see in the semi.

This sort of thing always happens. Lisa was dreadful last night and should have been in the dance off with Nicky. The danger is that next week she escapes again and a good dancer falls.

What a terrible shame that Nicky was voted off, he probably would have been in the bottom two but it was Lisa's turn to leave the competition (who on earth is voting for Lisa) - a big personality is not enough to win this competition. Nicky has a brilliant personality and always learnt from the judges comments when he was in the dance off. I would like Danni to win and the person I don't want to win is Kimberly.

Wrong two in the dance off.Should have been Lisa And Louise with Lisa going out.Denise proved in the dance she is a brilliant dancer and without malfunctions what a fusion she is capable of. Nicky was the most improved dancer and a lovely personality( a shock to me.Please let the best dancers progress. The perfect final IS Denise, Kimberley and Dani.Sadly Lisa will struggle with 2 dances and Louis is average at best( and lacks a personality). This is why it should be a 3 lady final.Sorry Nicky you have been great keep up rthe dancing.

Have to agree with 'lostinthepool' Lisa is technically miles behind, it is not fair when people who are better get voted out. Lisa is far too big to be technically neat and to progress any further is hindered by her weight. It just seems too biased and fixed!!

Did everyone know that if you Put in an FOI request to see the phone vote the BBC have envoked a clause that nullifies that request.
This just proves that something is being hidden.

I am getting annoyed at Lisa. She definatly does not deserve to be in the semi final let alone the final

Lisa is a lovely lady, but she has reached the limit of her dance talents!
It is a total travesty that Lisa and Robin were not in the dance off, and should have been out! Lisa is the weakest dancer and should have left last week.

Shame that a brilliant programme is so biased.

Craig, so critical of Nicky and Louis, is blatently favouring Lisa.

Craig should be fired from strictly his comments this week have directly discriminated against Nicky Byrne and his opportunity to gain marks from the public. As a result the results are biased and unfair. He seems to have been particularly vindictive about Nicky and his partner from the start. He should go..there is no place for this type of behavior from a professional.

Yay Louis and Flavia are through to the semis! I got really scared watching SCD TR today and I didn't know which way it would go. It's sad to see Nicky go, I really liked his charleston. He had a nice personality and it's a real shame he didn't do any more dances.
