No more working for a week or two...

Simon Mayo Simon Mayo Presenter

Well an interesting double blog for no apparent reason, no idea why that happened. Who knows how many will appear today? Maybe you could get one each? Now that would be fun.

The sun of course didn't last and through the torrential rain and gazebo-tilting, our last blade of grass disappeared under the muddy waters. We clearly have chosen the perfect time to go on holiday and enjoy the English summer experience. Paddy might think he's filling in for a fortnight but I may well have had enough after 4 days and reappear. I also have the small matter of Itch 2 to finish or important people will get cross. It's rapidly turning into War and Peace and that might not be what's expected.

Paddy K is on the show next week and most of the following week too. I'm back for the first of our Olympics shows on the opening Friday. It'll be an all requester from the Olympic village, just before the opening ceremony and then we're off around different sights to bring you some top Olympic Drivetime action (which means I'm not quite sure what's happening but it'll be great).

In the meantime we have a tip-top and sparkly ARF to deliver and I'm already looking forward to it. The movie show features Matthew McConaughey who stars in Magic Mike but how much film action we get depends on the John Terry verdict which is due this afternoon.

So let's get this ARF started in time-honoured fashion. Go on, impress us.

My prediction is 765 blog posts by my return. Can I win a cake?

Have a well-chiselled and highly-toned Friday, see you after 5.

Morning, all. I like it when Simon is a bit tardier than usual with the blog, as it means I am more likely to be up and about! When on school holidays I tend to revert back to student model of living - late nights and late mornings.

ARF - DON'T BANG THE DRUM - THE WATERBOYS

That would blow the cobwebs off the Radio 2 audience! And would make my day.

    #3 - oops, Shona - I'm equally rude!

Simon - I hope you have a wonderful holiday, and that you will find sun. Good luck, also with finishing War and ....er Itch 2. I look forward muchly to reading it.

I hope Mrs Mayo had a wonderful 50th. I got to that milestone in February, and it's not been too bad, really.

I'll really miss you on DT over the next couple of weeks, but my countryman, Paddy Kielty makes me chuckle, so I'm glad he will be standing in.

With all that's happening at BH, it would be good to have assurances that obsolete and obsolescent Royal Mail addresses will be culled from BBC Online, Royal Mail's Postal Address File and The Phone Book, and that the latter will be edited to reflect the up to date contact details for all BBC Services. Homework for someone at BH?

Are R2 and 6Music-not-in-Salford folk moving to BH this year or next or staying at Western House?

#4 perfect_circle2... great choice from one of my favourite groups! Mike Scott is brilliant and I went to see them in April and I hope you got to see them too! If Simon was going on a fishing holiday I would have asked for Fisherman's Blues!!

Morning Greetings 'Mayo Man' & ALL Of The Blog...

    Bingo Star 'ere...

Mayo Man - 2 BLOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And no idea why..... This is called 'technology'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When are we ALL gonna wake up and realise technology is VERY flawed.... Especially computers..... Slowly computers are destroying our lives/ interupting our lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok yes without them I couldn't blog now.... Being able ter blog is a most nice part of technology.... Even if there are/ is two blogs and a don't know which one ter blog on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????@?!

BUT I blame being too reliant on computers for the mess the world is in terdee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is it modern mangement and governmentations seem ter 'ave a worship of 'ow wonderful computers are..... when they are complicated expensive pieces of technology that VERY eaisly go most incorrect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PEOPLE are far better at doing things than computers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes computers can compliment our lives in a most nice way..... But in an overly reliant way - not a good situation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember what 'appened ter the motor manufacturer Reliant that built Robin Reliants.... They were robbed by being too reliant - know what am sayin'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WSoz am getting lost know, sorry now.... What am trying ter say is ease off the reliance of the technology and all will be more nice in life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take the recent O2 madness.... The Natwest madness all computer over reliance and a can bet the GS4 Olympic security fiasco stems from over computer relaince!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A can bet they've been using computers ter process the applicants.... Resulting in applications lost in the system..... It's like the Little Britain skeetch..... "Computer says no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    It really does!

Talking of 'aving a well chisled Fridee..... Am off ter knock out a couple of grooves for the 'inges for me new fire door in me new old 'ouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Tatty bye!

    Simon,

We had our holiday in Feb/Mar and it's a long haul until the next one at the end of September but I suspect we won't be working on ours!
Listened to a cd on the way to work this morning as I can't listen to Ryan Tubrithingydoodah. And yes it was James!

However, my ARF is Friday I'm In Love - The Cure.

    Nic, without an elephant...

#2 - Sal - your 'am I here' question inspired me with

    NOW I'M HERE - QUEEN

Only one communal blog again today. How ordinary. Still, it's Friday 13th, so who knows how many transient ones may appear and disappear during the course of the day.

#9 Florence - I've been a Waterboys fan since the early days, and have seen them live multiple times. I didn't get to the recent tour, but got to see them not that long ago in the Appointment with Mr Yeats tour. Mike Scott is just the most wonderful live performer, and the "Fiddledroog", Mr Wickham isn't bad either. I remember him from his In Tua Nua days - they supported U2 at my first ever U2 concert in Croke Park, Dublin. Steve Wickham played on a couple of U2's early songs, too, and was in the video of the Making of The Unforgettable Fire album.

Ok, ok - enough rambling/walks down memory lane!!

Good Morning Simon, Team and Blogpoppets

Simon, I hope you have a relaxing break, that the important people don't crack the whip too much over Itch 2 and that the sun shines for you. I'll be going off about the time you come back... hope I don't forget who you are...

    Hi Simon and everyone

Hope Mrs M enjoyed her 50th birthday celebrations.

Good luck with Itch 2, may have to go back to the beginning of Itch 1 as I cannot find the time to have a good read, much the same as finding the time to catch up on the Blockbusters shows!

Have a lovely holiday Simon and it would be cool to be come back prematurely if you get bored and are missing us!

Did you phone in yesterday Shona?

Oooh Jilly game next week very intriguing.

I was looking at some of my old schooly books last night when I was 13 which were Geography ones and full of colourful pictures of plate tectonics! And I cam e across my 1st Bryan Adams programme with my 1st autograph from him on 21 years ago this November!!!

And now for a blasting ARF:

    HOLLYWOOD NIGHTS - Bob Seager

Back laters for a think of others as must get some accounts for a Mr Onions done!!

    Have a nice day

    Laters
