Simon Mayo Simon Mayo Presenter

Ok listen up groovers. Here's your blog for today and that autumn feel (see yesterday's blog) is back again. The condensation on the car and kitchen windows suggests a back-to-school moment and the accompanying jangly nerves of a new class, new teachers. new text books. Even after all these years...
Lovely to have Fran Healy on yesterday, as charming as ever. The new Travis album is a delight and the fact that there was a (sadly deleted) track recorded with my name as the temporary title can only add to the warm and fuzzy feeling I have towards them. Fran said he'd send it to me so that I can sing along in the privacy of my own home. I'll report back.
Today we welcome Booker T Jones to the show and time to dust off my Stax box set. Green Onions, Hang 'Em high, and Time is Tight are some great tunes and his new stuff is lauded too. The new album Sound The Alarm follows back-to-back Grammy wins for his previous 2 albums. He's produced Willie Nelson and  Bill Withers, played on Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay and basically needs your attention from 6.
And how about BEARDED oldies? Songs by bearded singers is what I'm thinking (discriminatory I know). J Paxman has caused an (august) storm with his new holiday beard so that'll work just fine. Songs about BEARDS would work too should you wish.
Have a treat and frolic-filled Wednesday. See you after 5

Sharp dressed man or pretty much anything else by ZZ Top. Simply because of the beards worn by the guitarist and bassist and the drummer's surname is Beard!
