Yes still here, still bloggering on and the last post for a week as we disappear to spend a few days of compulsory family fun somewhere freezing and with fewer amenities than home. I'm sure it'll be lovely. I trust the Easter weekend will be a good one and full of hot cross buns (no fishcakes for heavens sake), assorted and occasionally hidden chocolate delights and a few chips.
Child 2 duly arrived back for a whistle stop tour of the washing machine, larder and her bedroom (still tidy). She disappears again today for more weeks of travelling but I'd forgotten what it was like to see someone who'd BEEN IN SOME HEAT and consequently looked tanned and relaxed. Maybe one day we'll all like that. But until then...
Here we go with an all request Friday having already got in the mood with a swift half-hour last night. And your opening year of requirement is 1956! Yes really! We need some classic ROCKNROLL to start todays show and '56 is about as rocknrolly (?) as it gets.
Have a warm-hearted and generous Friday, see you after 5.
(and keep the posts coming next week. My prediction is 765 comments by next Monday)

Good Friday Morning Simon, Team and Blogpoppets!

Simon, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed a visit from you're daughter in the middle of her travels. And isn't it good to know that some people are getting some sunshine and warmth...

No ARFO chasing for me today. And that's not just because I wasn't even born in 1956! I'm hoping again that the crown will go to a blogger who hasn't had it before. Back later for some chat once the suggesting is out of the way.

How nice for you Simon that child 2 came home, if only to have her washing done. I hope she has a safe onward journey and that you have a good break and find somewhere warm to eat your chips!

Good morning all, again. Dentist booked for 1pm, so that problem's sorted.

Happy Easter to one and all, and glad to hear that first stage of No 2 Child's adventures seem to be going OK. She came back and she had a tan. Success eh? Still surprised she hasn't been tempted to stay in order to enjoy the balmy Easter-tide weather.

As for tunes, well I was only in the foetal stage in 1956, but I remember as a child my father always used to play Nat King Cole and I have always had a soft spot for him ever since, so how about:

GET YOUR KICKS ON ROUTE 66 - NAT KING COLE off his 1956 album After Midnight. (I know it wasn't his first recording of it, but this version makes the date)

Jazz more than rock and roll really, but then I've never understood rock and roll. Should it get played (which I doubt) then it should be played for Bingo who will be passing his Easter weekend trucking the highways and byeways of the UK.
Was Bingo with Child 2? They both came back from the sunshine at the same time.......
Is Bingo Child 2's alter ego..........

(Ok getting silly. Slinks off to hit himself over the head with a wet mackerel....)

Deebee (from yesterday)... I asked Christy Moore on his website if he has any forthcoming gigs in the Cambridge area and he replied saying he doesn't have any coming up this time. I wonder if this might interest you for next April at the Festival Hall in London... and tickets are already on sale!

Good morning. Only heard snippets of last night's show and was very confused! Not read back yet either and suspect this might be my last day for a while what with Easter holidays interfering with my usual routine and all that. A change is as good as a rest!

1956. Only had a brief look at what was available and was hoping for some Buddy Holly or Eddie Cochran but there are only a couple of theirs to choose from so I'll go for some more obvious, but highly kitchen danceable, choons.

WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE - Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers

BE BOP A LULA - Gene Vincent

    HOUND DOG - Elveis Presley

If I don't see you before, which I probably will because I can't resist a quick poop by to check up on things, have a lovely Easter everyone!

Jennie - I was tempted to put True Love too even though it won't get played. High Society is my favourite film from that era & that song is fabulous.

They really should let us produce the show every so often; it would be great fun.

Off to check my oil, if I'm not seen again I've fallen in the tank ....
