Simon Mayo Simon Mayo Presenter

Airport and Edinburgh bound this morning. The film show is coming from the Edinburgh Film Festival and so the ARF will too, in a small cubby-hole somewhere at the back. Cloudy and cool with the possibility of taking the wrong clothes. If this traffic doesn't shift it'll all be academic anyway and Mark will have to do it on his own. Assuming that doesn't happen, Robert Carlyle and Billie Jean King will star. BJK is talking about a movie made about her 'battle of the sexes' tennis clash with Bobby Riggs and Robert Carlyle is talking about Robert Carlyle essentially.

I've tried to help the cabbie find Radio 2 but he failed and we have a hybrid between Radio 3 and a Greek music station. You should try it sometime.

So, live from my cupboard at 5 with the all requester and your opening song of requirement is 1975,if you have a moment...

Have a bouncy and infectiously optimistic Friday. See you after 2 and/or 5.

Greetings from the land of my birth. Edinburgh is probably my favourite city.

I do like a gallivant & an airport. Belfast international ok - a little on the wee side but still splendid people watching. My pathological fear of hen & stag parties remains.

Things I learned while driving this morning - today is the happiest day of the year apparently - the queen was not beaming with happiness quite as much when visiting the Today studio as when she won the Gold Cup. "One is not a horse" James Naughtie observed dryly.

TANGLED UP IN BLUE - BOB DYLAN

    FAME - DAVID BOWIE

MAKE ME SMILE (COME UP AND SEE ME) STEVE HARLEY & COCKNEY REBEL

    THUNDER ROAD - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

50 WAYS TO LEAVE YOUR LOVER - PAUL SIMON

BYE BYE BABY - BAY CITY ROLLERS (only because I am in Edimburgh)

#1 Sorry Erica, I didn't notice you'd suggested Dreamer. The downside of having a designated year. The crown should rightfully be yours if it gets played.

Apart from the odd bad novelty song, 1975, was a pretty good year for music, I think.

    Choices! choices!

Mandy, more than happy to share Steve Harley's top tune with you and Erica! Which rock do you like? Arthur's Seat or the Bass Rock... or maybe it's another rock?

Hi Simon and the northbound collective. 1975 .... that gives Matt the choice of anything from Born to Run but I would have

    BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - THUNDER ROAD

    Other notables are

STEVE HARLEY AND COCKNEY REBEL - MAKE ME SMILE (COME UP AND SEE ME)

and he song that provides surely the best ever trivia question (Which number one has the title of the very next number one included in its lyrics) QUEEN - BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY can't mention the next one as it was in 1976 and thats the wrong year !

    Enjoy Edinburgh
