The makers of Star Trek Into Darkness recently apologised for a gratuitous shot of Alice Eve in her underwear. Which other filmmakers would you like to see saying sorry and for what?

Steven Spielberg for finding the most annoying, toe curlingly awful child actors for his films.

I would like an apology from the Coen brothers. I consider them to be one of the finest American filmmaking teams working today and have loved the majority of their work, from Blood Simple all the way up to True Grit. I have been a lifelong fan of the Coen brothers but there is one film that I feel that they should apologize for and that film is:

    The Ladykillers.

When it was first announces that they would be remaking the British classic of the same name, I staunchly defended the Coens for their choice, believing that they would do something different with the material and this would be a remake worth shouting about.

Unfortunately they let me down. They let me down big time.

I'd like to hear Lucas and Spielberg apologise for 'Indiana Jones and the Crystal Mess. After everything that had been said about re-editing 'ET', he original 'Star Wars', 'Close Encounters...' etc., after the fan and critical mauling of those new 'Star Wars' pictures, after South Park made an episode basically BEGGING that they leave Indy alone... why did they go and do it any way? And what the hell were the aliens about? And [etc etc etc ad nauseum]

I would like the Japanese government from the 30s to apologize for sending Sadao Yamanaka off to war were he was killed. He only has three surviving films and all three of them are some of the best ever made. And, although I adore Heaven's Gate, I would like Michael Cimino to apologize for basically ruining the power of the director.

Terrence Malick seriously needs to apologize for spending all that money on actors who he cuts out of his films, which doesn't only make the studios angry but the actors too. These people were interested in working with him, they liked the script, did all the work, and then they are just cut out, Rude, Mr Malick.

It would be easy to ask Lucas for an apology for the Star Wars prequels but instead I would like the Wachowski brothers to say sorry for the Matrix sequels! When the first Matrix film, I was studying Philosophy at university so the whole premise of being stuck in a 'prison without walls' really gelled with my reading of Postmodernist authors like Foucault. Then ... out came Reload and Revolutions and everything went down the proverbial pan in favour of Terminator-style wars, just in an effort to have a trilogy cos 'everyone wants a trilogy'
