The NTA voting has now closed (updated Wednesday, 26th January)

OH. YES. It's that time of year when the celebs vie to lose a few festive pounds to squeeze into their 'going out' garb for the red carpet... the National Television Awards are back in town!

And EastEnders has been nominated!

Vote for EastEnders at the NTA website.

It's been a tremendous year for the show - full of drama, grit, tears and joy for Albert Square residents.

In 2010 we watched Bradley fall to his death and Stacey reveal she's Archie's killer in a live episode, Jack get shot, Lucas lose it, Phil battle with booze and drugs, Stacey give birth to Lily and the Vic go up in flames, plus lots more!

As well as the show being shortlisted for the prestigious Most Popular Serial Drama award, it's also been nominated in two other categories.

Outstanding Serial Drama Performance

Lacey Turner

Lacey Turner as Stacey Branning

Lacey's had a MEGA six years playing Stacey, and 2010's been no different. In fact, it's been a killer ride for the self-confessed murderess.

Not only did the former love cheat watch Bradley fall to his death, but she's battled with Bipolar and struggled with her killer secret before escaping to pastures new. Vote for Lacey through the NTA website, and watch her Best Bits video below:

Steve McFadden

Steve McFadden as Phil Mitchell

Steve has had an incredible year as Phil Mitchell! After struggling to handle fatherhood with Ben and Louise, Phil sank to depression and fell off the wagon with an almighty thud.

The rogue was not so much of a hard man, but more helpless when he got hooked on drugs. Steve's portrayal can only be commended for his superb acting. Make your vote count through the NTA site.

Most Popular Newcomer

Ricky Norwood

Ricky Norwood as Fatboy

Ricky first hit our screens as slippery, wheeler dealer Arthur "Fatboy" Chubb in E20. Fatboy swiftly started to warm up the Square with his charm and even managed to give Denise a smacker on the lips.

As well as pimping up his van and taking a scary trip to the woods, he's been keeping Dot company at choir practice. A brash hustler? Hmmmm. Vote for Ricky through the NTA site.

You have until Wednesday, 26th January 2011 (the day of the awards) to make your vote count via the NTA website: http://www.nationaltvawards.com/home

I think what Ronnie has done to Kat is rather nasty,It well bad because people that lose there kids dont really want to see this on tv. plus people that think they get away with taking someone else kids.

Although Stacey is a good actress, I think she is way overrated . Phil's portrayal of a drug addict was astounding. He deserves an award.
I am disgusted with the current storyline of eastenders. Its so upsetting. My baby recently died and I could not watch some parts. I would imagine that it was upsetting for parents whose kids have been kidnapped.I found it a bit ficticious too I mean Ronnie just had the baby and then a few hours after, she is pushing the baby with a buggy around the square? Thats not reality.

i think that stacey is a really good actress and i have been missing her since she left the square, i also feel sorry for ronnie but, i dont think that stealing kats baby is going to make it alright for her, i love eastenders i think it is the best soap by far. and one day ill love to visit the set and casts, would be a dream come true.

I Have watched Eastenders since the programme began, but I this time they have gone 2 far. The story line about the babies at the moment is awful, I know a couple that have lost a baby recentley and this is there first Christmas without her, it was bad enough not having her, but to put on that story line is terrible.I feel that I will not watch this programme again, I know a lot of my friends have the same feeling, and they say they wont watch it again either.

A very POOR storyline at present. And how could you film such emotional scenes when actress Patsy Palmer heavily pregnant in real life??

The present storyline is outragus. Firstly why would you want to make ronnies life so dificult making her lose another baby. Secondly why make Kat think she has lost a baby, this have left two characters greiving and finally what made you think that the audiecne would want to watch this. It is just disturbing. No one wants to see this. The storyline needs to end and soon.
I myself and many others i know have stopped watching eastenders.

I would just like to say that i think the cast have done a fanstastic job on the current storyline of ronnie's baby dying of cot death. Just by looking through this blog you can see some people disagree. But i think eastenders have done a brilliant job of addressing something that people choose to ignore. I think it will encourage alot of people to learn about the subject and bring knowledge to alot people. Well done eastenders for tackling another very tough subject!

whether EE wins every award going this year is unclear. Perhaps there will be a backlash from the current storyline. But somethings are more important and you need to look at the bigger picture. EE need to be praised for sticking to this story line. i agree with machinekimmy, EE never shy's away from tackling tough subjects, there is a help line at the end of every ep, we may all learn something from this. television is not all about enjoyment, entertainment and fluff. if we want that we can watch emmerdale!

Its so easy for people to say that the viewers are overreacting about the current storyline. I bet half of them have never seen their baby die or had to take their baby's cofffin to be cremated. It is disturbing and disgusting to watch the current story especilally for mothers like me whose babies have just died. I am not watching until this entire baby swap thing is resolved. If half of the babies in the UK were dying of cot death then I would say that it is a really pressing issue but it is not .

I feel angered, frustrated and distressed by the Eastenders tragic 'cot death/baby swop' plot line. I realise that writing and expressing that is futile. It will not halt the whole ghastly, unrealistic story unfolding over many weeks it has been designed to fill. There will be terrible sadness for Kat and Alfie and self destructive guilt for Ronnie- I hardly need to watch. Mixing the real tragedy of a cot death with a baby swop pantomime is really too sick for words.
I hope, however, that a whole barrage of negative opinion may at least provide some sympathy and support for parents who have had to suffer the pain of losing a baby in the real world. It is all very well to tell the rest of us to turn off if we don't like it- they have not got that option.

I am very concerned at the sick storyline with Kat and Ronnie. Cot death maybe should be addressed but you have taken this to an extreme sick storyline which I feel is very distressing for people and should be stopped.

i find what ronnie is doing to poor kat and alfie its shocken
i also think that its wrong to show it because of parents that have went through the pain of loosing a child this way would find watchen this very difficult and painful to watch.

    thanks x

I heard on this morning that it was thought to carry it on for years but i personally think and others prob do to that the baby should be returnt

I think the story line of cot death is fair enough but to tie it in with the baby being swapped is disgusting. I can not relax at the moment when i watch eastenders because of this storyline. Who on earth thought this up. I'll be glad when it is hopefully resolved and the normal eastenders continues. Until then i don't know that i can watch it anymore.

I think the story line of Ronnie loosing her baby and swopping it for kats is disgusting ! I have found it very distressing. It has been clear that at christmas all soaps seem to find a very dramatic story line, but this one has gone too far.
It was bad enough that the charactor of Ronnie lost Daniel, but then to loose a baby ( it was awful ) then to swop it for another. Its all got too much.
We all want happiness and a baby for Ronnie ! n katt to get her baby back asap ! Its jst sick !
