Most of us were really excited about The Olympics; and they lived up to expectations as a high-point of 2012 for the country as a whole. The Olympics were also a big moment for the BBC and everyone here involved in covering this exciting event.
As we come to the end of the year, the BBC Academy’s College of Production website has made a series of films which feature specially-filmed interviews looking behind the scenes of the BBC’s Olympics coverage.
The films cover the full spectrum, from how BBC online and multiplatform brought us the Olympics in a number of new and innovative ways; 5 Live and BBC TV presenters explain what it took to bring the games to the nation (in one case sacrificing a honeymoon); Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle reveals how he pulled off the awesome opening ceremony; there’s the inside track on how BBC Comedy used Olympic inspiration to create Twenty Twelve (and executive producer Jon Plowman explains how Lord Coe reacted when he viewed the first episode); as well as how BBC Drama weaved an Olympic story into EastEnders.
You can watch the films on the College of Production website.
