"McNair... you'll be needing this."

With these words the stake was passed over and the wheels of vengeance were set in motion. A fight to the death was on the cards and McNair was determined to deal the final blow.

On set the mood was charged with adrenaline. Dozens of actors, two camera crews and a vast abandoned swimming pool were combined to create one of the finest scenes in Being Human history. We got stuck in behind the scenes to see how it all happened, and somehow managed to avoid McNair's stake, Mitchell's fists and Annie's baseball bat in the process.

Episode four has passed and the truth about The Pack has been revealed. But already dark clouds are gathering and the return of Herrick is imminent...

Are you scared? You should be.

Great episode. Is that Herrick back next week!?

  • Comment number 4.

    OMG herricks coming back!
NOT GOOD NOT GOOD NOT GOOD!
Mitchell! Every episode I'm constantly hoping nothing happens to him.
If Mitchell does die there will be no point for a series 4...
OMG the worry of it is making me write funny! ARGH! SOOO TENSE
Great episode! Aidan Turner is the best!
Now...hopefull becoming human will work this time.

  • Comment number 5.

Fantastic episode. Can't wait for the next.

Also, the lighting, the colours - what a visual feast!

    Thank you!

  • Comment number 9.

Episode 4 in one word: Brilliant
    In two words: Totally Brilliant!

  • Comment number 10.

WOW ..... WOW where did all that action come from!!!!
Oh the excitement, Mitchell & Annie is just wrong in so many ways and you knew Sadie was gonna have to watch her jugular the moment she came out the bathroom, Mitchell kills when horny derrr. As I said all along Annie can't cope with bad Mitchell and apparently her goodness aint rubbed off on him yet so there goes that theory.
Archers?!?!? I'd never have guessed that??
On the stairs Mitchell said it had never been about love or sex only blood?? What was Josie then?????

Richard said retribution was coming from overseas? are the old ones that angry or are they just coming to make their distain felt??
McNair said at the end almost word for word what Lia said in purgatory. 'One good deed to cancel out everything you've done' you can see why Mitchell thought he'd been sent for him!!

Need to ponder further and breathe

  • Comment number 11.

Whew! That was exhausting to watch, must've been a killer to film! I wasn't too worried one way or the other over the Annie/Mitchell romance but I like the way they're playing it.
    Is Nina still pregnant?

  • Comment number 12.

That was amazing, the big fight scene was fantastic. There were a few times where i feared for Mitchell's life but its all good he is still alive and im hoping that the hairy baby is ok as well.

Plus the return of Herrick next week's episode looks good already.

  • Comment number 13.

Did wifey rich vampire get away? Oh dear. That is definitely not good.
    Herrick returning- not good.
    McNair's threat- not good.
So- all in all several possibilities for next week. Because its all so bad, it cant all wee on Mitchells parade.
Annie and Mitchell - that is still good (just)
    George and Nina- still good

  • Comment number 14.

and now this US fan has to sit and wait impatiently to see the wonderfulness you undoubtedly just saw. I have to try my best to avoid this blog till then.

  • Comment number 15.

    Another amazing episode! Herricks Back!
    Cant wait for next weeks!

  • Comment number 16.

O.m.g! Its my first time posting, but having watched tonight's episode, I just had to! I was kinda uncertain about the idea of Annie and Mitchell getting together, but after tonight's episode, I can now say I'm a total shipper of the pairing if it produces annie moments like tonight....the sex list! annie's reaction to the threesome! ventrilotist! Absolutely the sort of humour that makes BH so bloody brilliant!!

I must say though that Mitchell, despite the fact he's so visually appealing, is starting to annoy me a little in that he really should just fess up about Box Tunnel 20...I reckon that not telling Annie, Nina and George is one of the things that the other side is counting on in whatever games that they're playing.

Despite tonight's episode, I'm not sold on McNair being the wolf shaped bullet...far too obvious, and also as they've said this series is about the threat being themselves, makes much more sense that its either Nina or George, if its at all true. I'm much more inclinded for it to be mind games; It seems since that prediction he seems to be clinging much more to Annie, and given that Lia also planted that seed of an idea in Annie's head too...well it seems that they're actually much more concerned with messing with minds than killing Mitchell.

And yes, I'm very concerned to the fate of the little wolf to be....I can see how either way it would be an interesting story to play out, but I'd mainly like to see with what they come up with as an explanation of how a were carries to term....

Finally...HERRICK!! The way he was re-introduced was fantastic...not a big violent entrance, but a babbling, former shadow of himself...maybe being undead for the second time has actually meant he's not so vampy anymore?

Overall, yet another BH ep that has me both smiling and gasping in awe at the end. Roll on next sunday!!

  • Comment number 17.

I want my own Brian I've got a Harriet but I really want a Brian

  • Comment number 18.

    - made a change for a vamp to be in the cage this time, good to see Mitchell heplping the wolves out.
Mcmair had principles about being polite with ladies but believed in helping himself to supermarket chicken(Cant blame him at their prices),
Understandable he has such a grudge against vampires; shame he couldnt help george and nina tho'

  • Comment number 19.

OK, so here's my comments on the ep: NOTE: I REALISE that SO many will not agree, and my opinion is NOT always right, I just want to get this off my chest:
FIRSTLY I have to say I was not impressed by the fact that the writer was not someone we've seen before- while I actually love some of the freshness writers aside from Toby Whithouse give the show, I have to say that with so many sensitive storylines as the number this episode had, it was just probably not a clever idea for a completely new writer approaching the show to do this. Unfortunately, my fears were altogether (sort of) founded- I felt the Mitchell/Annie storyline- and yes i do appreciate i'm saying this as a DIE-HARD annie/mitchell fan and have been for three years- was dealt with completely inappropriately. What would have been nice to see would have been an episode where Mitchell just had no shit going on (underlying themes, w/e those are acceptable) and the whole M/A thing could have been resolved much less erratically.

ALSO the way last episode was going, Annie, okay, maybe she could have been somewhat as into the relationship as she was (and yes it was cute) but would Mitchell really be that tired this soon in? Really?! I felt when he actually seemed excited about it it provided a much more believable side to the episode and indeed his character. Also, after three years, surely their relationship deserved a little more attention spared on it aside from some conclusion that they just can't ever have sex or anything else and a rather distressing next time where Mitchell accuses her of wanting to take over every part of him?! It presents too much hypocrisy in both Mitchell himself and in their relationship.

I will admit that that stairway scene was cute, but this time it was Annie who didn't really seem to be the one completely into it; it's been proved that Mitchell believes in love and salvation in previous series, again, why the hypocrisy.

The methods Annie and Mitchell were trying and the aftermath (understandable) proceeding them -- again, is there just a total lack of communication between these two or has someone just got their relationship completely wrong?! There has always been chemistry between them and grrr I CANNOT be the only one thinking that this was just shut down on far too many levels. I know i've mentioned it before, but the whole 'we can't have sex or anything else' route shot too many things down faaaar too soon. We can't see this couple fail. Series 2= angry Mitchell. Can series 3 just not allow us that glimpse of series 1 Mitchell once more?!

As to the werewolf storyline- now, I did think it was interesting. Robson Green was great and I thought all the weird rivalries that developed were believable and interesting. When it came to Mitchell and Annie in the cage- Mitchell again not reeally seeming to care all too much about Annie- being surrounded by them, that was when i sort of went 'hmmm'. I just felt that plot could have developed so much better, and there were far too many '12 hours later' cutaways that left me feeling we'd missed something important- or, indeed, that the writer was just uneasy about developing the characters aside from the main plot action in which case, why was this episode given to them.

To conclude, honestly i did like the episode (!!!!! i, know) but I just felt it in no way filled up to the potential last week offered us and was far too bitty for me to feel these were the real, original characters we all know so well. Until next week....

  • Comment number 20.

Wow I'm totally adrenalined up! That was mental (in a brilliant way!).

Poor (hot) Tom, I really felt for him! And the cage! The cage! That was intense. I;m glad he stuck with McNair though.

It worries me that I want to hit Mitchell over the head and knock some sense into the man!

  • Comment number 21.

    17. lo ewan i thought Brian was in Family Guy?

  • Comment number 22.

OMG that was amazing, i didn't think that you could have gotten a better episode after last week, but i was wrong!
Annie and Mitchell were fabulous!! Annie was at her best with her wacky ideas creating a hilarious feast for us to watch. Mitchell was tortured and is getting increasingly paranoid about werewolfs while still somehow managing to look like a tragic hero and managing to redeem himself by the end.
Gourge and Nina were really great too, and I CANNOT wait to see how this baby is going to turn out.
Mitchell & Annie and George & Nina hiding secrets from each other was utterly hilarious.
I think its a shame that Mitchell and Annie can't have a "Normal" relationship. Mitchells speach about finding something deeper was cute, but its starting to sound a bit too much like twilight( not that theres anything wrong with that, but I think I speak for everyone when I say its nice to see Aiden Turner getting excited) when the guy vampire cannot get arroused for fear of losing control.
    Can't wait for episode 5!!!

  • Comment number 23.

Wow!! Howled with laughter at "ventriloquism", awwwed at the scene on the stairs (they both looked so alone, and I'm not even a shipper) and then held my breath through the fight. Wicked stuff!

  • Comment number 24.

Oh yeah, how did McNair know about the wolf-shaped bullet?? Theories??

  • Comment number 25.

Please tell me what is going on? Ten words or less would do.

  • Comment number 26.

Well basic info - McNair seems to recognise vampires - could be because he has been tracking them

Tom was scratched not born Nina will have to have another test soon just to see.

Richard could you have wanted a better death for him - teach him to disparage Nina

Always bring stakes to a vampire party - from the cage being the place of death to the place of safety.

Mitchell betraying McNair because he thinks he's the one to kill him. The three of limit werewolves being the ones to be caged.

The fight sequence McNair staking and Tom Just going round breaking vampire necks. It doesn't kill them just paralyses for the stake later.

Also the moment McNair 'accidentally' aims a bible at Mitchell in the middle of the fight.

We also have Mitchell and Annie having I think a comparison of prematurity moments with the substitute.

McNairs goodbye to Mitchell echoing Lia's goodbye spooky

    Over all AWESOME

  • Comment number 27.

10 - I agree, no way was Mitchell's relationship with Josie only about the blood. And he was obviously looking for the same thing from Lucy. It might not have been about love or lust like he said though - acceptance and forgiveness seem so important to him. But I think him saying that doesn't add up with how we've seen him behave in the past.
How good is Robson Green?! Loving his portrayal of McNair. Can't wait for next week - bring on Herrick!

  • Comment number 28.

    25. Snowracer_247 Bad guys staked. love for all? Fears for Mitchell.

  • Comment number 29.

A very different episode this week..but a truly awesome one...loved it! It had everything....sexy scenes, poignant scenes, scary scenes, worrying scenes....a little into to Herrick..oh and a Mitchell almost getting his kit off!

Thanks for this vid BHProductions...great to see all the hard work, prep and sweaty bodies that went into making the cage scene!

  • Comment number 30.

How can this show continue to blow me away every week, HOW?! I thought last weeks ep was the best out of all 3 series, until now...
Poor Annie and Mitchell - that really is a kick in the teeth isnt it??

  • Comment number 31.

FANTASTIC EPISODE! It just gets better and better! It's just the best programme on TV!

I love the way Mitchell/Annie is going, I like that it's something 'purer' than a regular relationship, but as Neva princess pointed out the not being about love or sex makes a mockery of the whole relationship he had with Josie. BUT perhaps he said that to make Annie feel better, and also this is what he needs NOW.

If McNair isn't the wolf-shaped bullet then how come he's using the same words and also the "gun" fingers - how does he know?

My theory, and I'm sure most will disagree with me, is the wolf-shaped bullet is George & Nina's kid!!! It could happen, years from now, they didn't say when! Maybe that means we can keep Mitchell in the show for a few more years?!!

  • Comment number 32.

Think richard and Mcniar didnt go to the same school of dog training ..

"Now.. Stay!...stay boy, good boy, good boy , ooow theres a good boy...theres a gooo......" (arrrgh!!! the wall is spattered in blood)

  • Comment number 33.

10/27 - Hmmm fair points but maybe then Annie & Mitchell's relationship could have been all that more special as it seems they want to make it?? IDK we shall to wait and see...

  • Comment number 34.

Me again...just read the previous posts...
    (19) annietheghost 'We can't see this couple fail'. Not with you on this one.......sorry, but I think if Mitchell and Annie get it on as a 'normal' couple it's the end of Being Human...they will have achieved the normality they seek and game over as far as the challenge/drama and suspense of Being Human is concerned.

  • Comment number 35.

    The Dog Whisperer- FAIL!

  • Comment number 36.

my theory on mcnair and the wolf shaped bullet is pretty simple....he, at that moment, was being used as a puppet by the other side. Literally putting the very words into his mouth. I think thats the overwhelming arc for this series, rather than it being about physical threats, its all about the mind game...Sasha the zombie's final speech,Lia, McNair, all the other side's handy work...we've seen them do it before, and we'll see them do it again, I reckon.

I agree though that whilst wanting to see Annie and Mitchell together, it kind of feels like we're not getting anything from the pairing, other than Lenora being brilliantly funny. That moment on the stairs, whilst totally an "aww, bless" moment, summed it up perfectly. Annie's putting her heart on the line and really loves Mitchell, and wants a relationship like she would have had when she was alive, whereas Mitchell wants one that can soothe his conscious and be his excuse for being both good and bad. Hasnt anyone ever told him that its not other people that are responsible for your actions? I think it was a telling moment when Annie chatted with McNair....thinking a vampire is not a bad boyfriend at all is just a little bit worrying, even if you are a ghost. But that being said, I think I'd be just like her and naively thinking its all hearts and flowers. And she does have a track record of that afterall, given how she was about the ex that killed her...maybe she even already knows about box tunnel 20 and is chosing to ignore....

  • Comment number 37.

16 - Hi Sararara, you're right, someone has to knock some sense into Mitchell. Why does he always insist on going it alone? Has he not learned from everything that happened in series 1 and 2? He wouldn't share with George and Annie then and he lost control and here we go again. He doesn't need to confess the box tunnel business but he could still explain what happened when he went to get Annie, to George if not to her. Looks like the baddies know he doesn't talk about these things and are relying on that so he'll drive himself doolally!

  • Comment number 38.

21 - In the behind the scenes Robson Green called the big stake Brian

  • Comment number 39.

Each episode really does get better, and better!

  • Comment number 40.

35, hahahahaha........... OR "its me or the Dog"

  • Comment number 41.

28 - Thank you! Nine words, neat.

BTW "Bad guys staked. Love for all!" would make a good caption on a T-shirt.

(Reminds me of a Buffy-episode where she tells Spike "What are you doing here? Five words or less!" and he says "Out. For. A. Walk. Bitch." Classic.)

  • Comment number 42.

Ha ha loved that episode, very funny moments in it, just from the interaction between the big four, I liked the awkward silence that went on about 20 seconds on screen. I think the writers took note of that sort of thing that was missing from the last series.

I like how we have a new big cast of characters that can be called into the story at any point, people who are in it for an episode can be called back (as may happen for Adam (and friends?)

Herrick! So exciting to find out what he really is next week, and Cara is back too, to think she started out as just canteen girl in episode 1 and is now so vital.

  • Comment number 43.

34 - nonono don't worry, I completely agree with you in the sense that they really SHOULDNT'T be a normal couple, you're right it would evade the point, I just think they both deserve an attempt at it, there is a difference between that and them becoming totally 'normal' and a real sense of passion/desire to succeed in that would be nice on both sides. it happened to george/nina and we still havent lost the weirdness there!! as for the outcome, i suppose we'll see about that...

  • Comment number 44.

38, ahhH Brian the big stake, now its all making sense.. just a bit of info apparently Hawthorn was/is a favoured tree for stakes, will we find out ir brian was from a hawthorn or was he just scratched by one? only Mc niar can tell. Good scene between him and tom at the hospital and i loved the "Birds and Bees" talk in the supermarket
    - need some air conditioning in here"

  • Comment number 45.

The two most sad and pathetic things right now:
    1. I couldn't watch this episode that everybody else think is brill,
    2. I am still at work for crying out loud!

Am I feeling sorry for myself? Have a good guess.

  • Comment number 46.

    BEST EPISODE EVER!!!!!!

Blood, gore, Werewolves, epic fight scenes & Topless Aidan= Perfection!!

Just wanted to say a massive WELL DONE to Marcus & the make up. You are the reason I love werewolves and enjoy with every different project, their transformation and take on the lore! Amazing =D

Such a brilliant episode, im slightly speechless ( which never happens). Robson & Michael are a fantastic addition to the BH cast and I cant wait to see then as McNair & Tom again (hopefully very soon)

The Annie/Mitchell storyline...meh!! It very much feels like there being pushed together by 'fate' i.e. the men behind the door for some reason as they do play the long game. We shall see but have a feeling its all gonna end in tears (Annie's)

Cant wait for episode 5 now!

  • Comment number 48.

Thank you. Just thank you for another brilliant episode.

Though it's hidden, Mitchell is compelled to root out and pore over Graham's Box Tunnel 20 cuttings book, a tangible and constant reminder of all his evil deeds.

Perhaps he now believes that no act of his was undertaken in good faith and that's why he's negating the relationship with Josie.

  • Comment number 51.

  • Comment number 52.

    50. Its like Laurens DVD again that soon found its way to the surface, he was supposed to have destroyed that too. It was like a compulsion to keep going over the kill!!!

  • Comment number 53.

Nevaaprincess [52], yes, true. As Saffz pointed out, Mitchell has form in keeping things he shouldn't.

  • Comment number 54.

Is it possible, and this is my first time on here so be gentle, but is it possible that Mitchell will have to sacrifice himself for George and Nina's baby...and that being both his redemption and him being killed by a wolf shaped bullet?

    Just an idea.

  • Comment number 55.

    "Retribution is coming from overseas"

Old ones or just more emissaries?

  • Comment number 56.

47 - Thank you? It would of course help if I knew what "reet belter" meant...

  • Comment number 57.

I'm more preoccupied with why he said it was never about love or sex how is he blotting out the Josie years so easily he can't have forgotten maybe it WAS just for Annie's benefit because he could never have with her what he had with Josie cause she was ... well alive but if he is detatching from that part of his life and in episode 2 he was packing for south america maybe he feels the pull back to the vampires??? I think they may have something to do with the last couple of episodes dunno

  • Comment number 58.

also, *unpopular opinion* is there a definitive reason they can't have sex?! either explain it or explore it more. surely, whether they will end up together or not, that's possible!

  • Comment number 59.

Overall I'm liking the way this series is shaping up - so many questions! Can't believe we're now half way through though, that's pretty depressing... Loving Becoming Human too but I need to get to bed so I'm studiously ignoring that blog tonight! Night all.

  • Comment number 60.

49 & 51 Clips! Clips! I love those! Thank you ever so much, kind sir.

47 - Know the saddest part: it's not even my shift. It's just plain overtime. Past midnight on a Sunday... Sigh.

  • Comment number 61.

Oh my George! That ending... the cage... Nina.... I nearly fell off my seat on several occasions! The tension was incredible! I thought the pacing was quite similar to episode 6 of the first series - the beginning was quite slow and then POW! the ending goes all out! I'm starting to wonder if McNair is being manipulated by The Other Side - his words echoed Lia's almost exactly. Hmmm... *strokes chin in contemplation*

Also, I'd just like to add that Mr Turner looked very, very nice this evening. Very nice indeed...! :D

Thanks for the video BHProd! Whenever I see a stake (or steak) from now on, I'll think of it as Brian. Oh, and Mr P? Loved the dramatic intro! :)

  • Comment number 62.

Ohhh, I forgot to add: HEEEEERRRIIIICCKKKKK!!!! :D

I'm so excited for next Sunday! :)

  • Comment number 63.

    Hi everybody
Fantastic episode, totally rollercoaster of laughing my head off, and then feeling sooooo tense
The whole Annie/Mitchell thing is bothering me though tonight, as it clearly is quite a few of you.
Where's the passion/strength of feeling from Mitchell? I feel like shouting at Annie, 'He's just not that into you...'

  • Comment number 64.

Also, if it really ill be a wolf shaped bullet, Tom's Whittling skills maybe more important than we think. Only wood can hurt a vampire, well he's always making those little statues.

Is that how you spell whittling?

  • Comment number 65.

    60. at least u can skive on overtime and get paid + look forward to best ever Episode do far (admitedly im a canine, but still love the foursome)
_ even good to see Herrick in the pre? ~(assume Emma will bury him among the roses and drip blood on him at their next sex party?

  • Comment number 66.

63- I see what you mean, but having just now rewatched a lot of it I do think, just in the little ways he occasionally looks at her, that he does want it. It's just a question of how the balance is going to work, and IF it can.

  • Comment number 67.

I believe they can't have sex because Annie is stuck in her clothes, the ones she died in, she can't take them off! And she's not completely 'solid', she's sort of 'squishy' and cold...

  • Comment number 68.

    65 - Good point.

Night everybody! Signing off for five hours of sleep...

  • Comment number 69.

    67. There was me thinking of some long scientific reason and there you have it ya can't get her clothes off PMSL Genius!!!!!

  • Comment number 70.

I know Annie's a ghost and that her touch is probably not as solid as a person with a body. But Mitchell and George usually seem to be able to touch and feel her just fine. SO...why oh why was Mitchell being so unresponsive to everything Annie was doing???
It doesn't really make sense. I thought that to other Sup's, Annie was reasonably solid, but Mitchell seemed to not be feeling anything when she was kissing him. Even when their kissing normally, its always Annie that kisses Mitchell, he never goes in first!!
Why was Mitchell able to get passionate so quickly with the human girl when he never initiates anything with Annie. Is it simply because she has blood running through her veins. The lack of passion between Annie and Mitchell was very disappointing. Even when he kisses her he looks tortured and restrained - he's starting to act like Edward. What has happened to the amazing chemistry we thought they had???

  • Comment number 71.

Before I forget past episode reference - McNair and Tom met Galvin the last werewolf to die in the chamber, poor Richard.

Also Nina is showing the truth is the most important thing when she tells Tom about his origins.

    Some things to think about.

  • Comment number 72.

Finally just watched the behind the scenes clip. I love how they had to give Lenora a rubber bat haha!

  • Comment number 73.

    70- HEAR HEAR.

  • Comment number 74.

70 - He might be retesent because he knows what has been fortoled to him by Lia. Also the moment Annie uses the word Fate we can see the effect that has on him. he want's to but can't let himself go not so soon after the box tunnel.

A note on that he has had hardly any contact with Normals since then as if he can't trust himself - When he is with a human his instincts take over he's not been clean or fed recently enough to control himself.

Like what happened to Sally of Shefeild he just gives in.

  • Comment number 75.

70 & 73 Hell yeah, You just feel like shouting 'leave it love he's not avin it, give it up'

  • Comment number 76.

Gosh! And I thought last week was as good as it could get.
I love the dramatic stuff, and am so glad they're managing to keep the laughs while now moving deeper into the drama for the characters.
    Ventriloquism? Genius!
And the story of the three little wolves and the big bad pig? Loving your parenting skills, McNair snr.
It's also great to see the ensemble grow, so come back soon please McNairs.
I just really care about what happens to these people, way too much. That's a huge testament to cast, crew, writers etc.
    Thank you all!!

  • Comment number 77.

    74. Ewan we haven't seen him with humans but he's been working in the hospital with them but he didn't like the fate reference, also Annie said he was everything she ever wanted completing someone else's story anyone???

  • Comment number 78.

74 - i agree, i think he loves annie but is afraid of hurting her? He knows there's a bullet after him so it would be a mistake to get involved. Especially after george warned him not to hurt her. Plus she doesn't know about the box tunnel 20 so he's obviously afraid of being rejected by her. He has a lot on his mind, poor lamb!

Remember when he went on the date with Lucy (think it was ep3 in series 2) he was a crap date, hardly spoke couldn't muster up enthusiasm even though he really liked her, because he had so much vamp trouble going on in the background he couldnt focus on his relationship, well I think that's the same here.

Anyway nighty night, i'm off to bed folks :o)

Rewatching - like how they are dressed similarly in the stairs scene. Also Richard's comment about "doggy style" reminded me of that bit in series 1.

And comment from way back about how Mitchell in the cage seemed only worried about himself and not Annie - if things got hairy (pun not intended) she could pop out to somewhere else, but he couldn't.

Barnacles...i just posted my thoughts on the countdown thread...ah well...i can do it here too ;)

    In a word: fantastic.

I'm not an Annie/Mitchell shipper but i do like their scenes together. My own personal interpretation is that Mitchell sees Annie as something pure and good and maybe he hopes that through her he'll find his redemption, that maybe he'll experience love and be redeemed. He has admitted to her that for him sex was a weapon and never about love, about the blood. It also made me wonder about his relationship with Josie (loved that story, i hope someday it is revisited, if and when the show gets a 4th season..yeah that's me being confident)

This episode had a lot more action, from the capture of Tom at the house (the camera made me dizzy which added to the dramatic effect) down to the brawl at the cage fight (and oh yeah, those curls Mitchell...), the portents about Mitchell's possible fate and his overwhelming guilt over what he did in the Box Tunnel, it's all starting to slowly unravel.

The scene with Mitchell/Sadie/Annie could've been cringe worthy but it actually turned out completely different, how his bloodlust overwhelmed him to the point of vamping out was nicely done as was the scene on the stairs later (spoken as a non shipper)

I'm hoping the little hairy baby made it through the first transformation.

Sorry old boy, don't understand your banter...

Been a while since I left the UK, could you define "shipper"? Thanks!

Hi all, just finished watching ep 4 again on iplayer. WOW! Really one of the best ever.
I am beginning to think 54, might have a point, although I have been toying with the thought that George might be the bullet, on Mitchell's request.
Mitchell seems to be so tired of all the bad stuff, could he be really to call it a day - like Lauren relied upon him to put her out of her misery, then the obvious choice for Mitchell would be George - the threat from within??
Then again, maybe he should just go off to South America or my fantasy ending where he earns redemption and can go through the door with Annie...but that's probably too Disney an ending for BH!

Oh yea- really keeping fingers crossed for the hairy baby!

Just wanted to add- abosulutely LOVED the use of Rudenkos' 'Everybody' in the club scene. Such a tune! ;)

81 - A ship (short for "relationship") is a romantic pairing in a particular fandom. A fan fiction story may feature one or more "ships". Many fans may consistently favor a particular character pairing (or more than one), and such a fan is referred to as a "shipper." (from Wiki)

*waves to RRR* I know you like Mitchell/Josie LOL. Do you recognise me now?

  • Comment number 86.

75 - hmm i see you point but i'd rather he explained all that he was feeling to her. Just so she knows what she's getting into and he makes it clear how he wants to approach the whole thing. IMO.

JUST HAD TO REWATCH THAT - was up for early nite, but bloggs and the draw of such great ep, will prob watch recording 2moz and report in.
    - what was Herrick muttering and did he have hairy feet in his loonybin issue slippers?
    - will where's "Limehead" in Cornwall?

Thanks, Whitehare. Can't believe I didn't think to check wikipedia! Looks like we may have to wait for the DVD here in Canada...

Another great episode. Hope it's not the last we see of McNair and son.

I still love the idea of Annie and Mitchell, but I dunno...there is something important missing from this pairing. I can't put my finger on it. For example, shouldn't he be hot for her? Even a little bit? Like he was for Josie and Lucy? One night with Lucy and he went all "high school girl" on us.

Am I the only one to entertain the idea that Tom might meet Christa. If they get longer episodes in the future.

I can see them calming each other Tom to give her courage Christa can give him self control.

    Thoughts opinions?

Wow how intense was that episode? Ok so Mitchell and Annie loved these two right from the start and still love them. I gotta say though that I understand where Mitchell is coming from with the whole approach and hesitance towards their relationship. Let's face it these two will never be normal whether it's a relationship with each other or different people it's pretty much their fates. Mitchell has so much to deal with, he probably feels like he doesn't deserve someone as good and as pure as Annie(as he put it), considering he keeps telling her about the horrible things he has done, he probably feels like the lowest scum possible. Whatever may come for them I know it's probably doomed (but I would really like some type of happiness for both of them whether be it with each other or not) but I'll enjoy the ride before it ends.(hope it ends well though). And George and Nina, with this whole baby thing I can understand the hesitant to not want to bring an unknown "baby" or thing into the world. It would be nice to have the happy family with a kid but it's Toby I don't he does happy families. But whatever happens, hope they're happy in some way. I really loved McNair and Tom, they have such a great father/son dynamic and McNair isn't bad to look at.Loved the episode can't wait to see what happens next week.

I love Annie so much and am fully behind the beautiful pairing, but I dont want her made a fool of! Get real Mitchell!!

Ewan: "The fight sequence McNair staking and Tom Just going round breaking vampire necks. It doesn't kill them just paralyses for the stake later."

Possibly. I know decapitation is an effective way of killing a vampire, so I saw breaking the vampires' necks as essentially being a version of that as from a bone point of view (hideous thought I know) that's what's happening.

The Mitchell and Annie stuff was a bit tacky and was of the least interest to me, (I guess that means I'm not a 'shipper' ... whatever that is. You young 'uns and your invented words... ;) ). Using another person to get her jollies doesn't really strike me as Annie's bag... but anyhoo.

The werewolf storyline was great though, although the kid's infatuation with Nina was a bit silly. Great battle scene. The vampires in Being Human are a bit rubbish though aren't they? It's a wonder more ordinary humans don't do a better job of fighting them off, their strength doesn't seem much greater. The werewolves seemed to be pretty much a match for them before they changed. I'd think that with their super strength the vamps would be more effective while the werewolves are in their human form. Still, they were near the change so maybe they get stronger... and McNair had his bible and crucifix.

I guessed the twist with McNair's son a while back. They probably should have made the scratches a bit less obvious, perhaps only have it on his back where you can see it when he is topless. Having it on his head too was a bit to conspicuous.
These are small criticisms though, and it really was a great storyline overall. Possibly the best episode this series.

    "Down boy!"* Crunch. Heh.

*That vamp took the mick right to the last, didn't he?

  • Comment number 94.

Personally I'm very concerned about the hairy baby.

Annie's expressions and where she is kneeling don't look especially promising for babywolf at around 52:25 - 52.34, although, would she really leave Nina is she'd just watched her miscarry? Perhaps if she thought Mitchell might be able to do something to help? It seems... unlikely..

What distressed me most was that in the scene where Annie and Mitchell are in the cage, hiding from the transformed wolves. As the camera zooms out around 54.15 the centre of the cage is spotlit and in the very middle is a tiny furry bundle. I thought this was supposed to be poor George and Nina's baby, but it's really not clear and this was not confirmed in the episode, so hopefully it wasn't.

George and Nina's quiet cuddling on the couch afterwards didn't really seem to show that the bundle *wasn't* their baby. They did look like they could be trying to comfort each other over that, still in shock, but surely if this is what happened, more sympathy, or at least hugs, would be warranted from the others at the end. I came to the blog to see if anybody else had thought the same thing and so far I haven't seen anyone who has, so fingers crossed....

It's logical that BeingHuman werewolves wouldn't be able to carry children what with the transformation and all, but if this episode did feature a miscarriage, supernatural or otherwise, I think it was handled quite insensatively... Presumably all will be clearer this time next Sunday.

  • Comment number 95.

Watching the bits I mentioned again in HD the brown bundle in the centre of the cage looks more like bits of cloth than anything else. Annie didn't really have time to have taken the baby into the cage with her and Mitchell, so I was probably wrong (phew).
But perhaps anyone who bothers to look at the points of the episode I mentioned on iplayer they will be able to see why I thought what I did, as when I first watched it I watched the blurry version because I have a slow internet connection.
(Also when Annie runs off to get Mitchell leaving Nina 'alone' George is actually there with her, the back of his head is *just* in shot.)

Thought this episode was amazing in many ways - just really gripping, felt really "real" in so many moments, like the fantastic first confrontation in the BnB between the McNairs and the housemates, so tense & amazingly acted. And the cage sequence was mindblowing, one of the craziest and most thrilling moments in BH so far. Robson Green and Michael Socha were both fantastic as well, and the main cast were just as incredible as they always are, all four of them.

However, am not altogether happy with the direction the series is headed in, especially re: Mitchell. Feel like he's being character-assassinated. I know he's not fluffy bunnies, he's a vampire and he's got a very dark side, but his vamping out and all that madness has always been a part of himself he's fought with on his own (too much on his own, really) - he's never really let it seep over into his relationship with his housemates, he's always been strong for them, and kind to them. I can see what they mean "the threat is from within" in this series, but just feel that this isn't consistent with the Mitchell we know. He's never been this selfish before, or wantonly destructive. I know the idea is he's spiralling downwards, but I don't buy it - he was prepared to stay in Purgatory to atone, only last week he was prepared to tell Annie, and now he's forgotten that and is lashing out at everyone he feels is going to call him to account? Feel like we're going to see him lose everything bit by relentless bit, and then die redeeming himself perhaps, and that'll be the end of the OT3, and it's going to be horrifically bleak.

Re: the Annie & Mitchell relationship, again it didn't feel quite right ... Mitchell is obviously preoccupied, but nonetheless, all their natural chemistry just seemed to disappear all of a sudden, and it felt too soon for that to happen (not to mention what about Lucy and Josie, he had sex with them and didn't bite them). Am worried with the promo and Mitchell shouting at her - feel he's being thematically linked to Owen there, and again, I wouldn't have believed it of him. That he'd not tell her about Box Tunnel cos he's too afraid, yes. That he'd deliberately hurt her, no. =(

Am not disputing the brilliance of the writing & creation of this show - whatever the BH team decide to do, they do it MARVELLOUSLY and to the hilt. Just wish it wasn't going in this incredibly dark direction, especially because it really feels like losing the S1 characters (esp Mitchell) I fell in love with.

  • Comment number 97.

92 completely agree with you to be quite frank its like what 96 said that the deeper into depression and moping mitchell goes, the more we feel like we're losing the series 1 character that we fell in love with.
Apart from that i did love the annie/mitchell moments especially when annie called mithcell "daddy" n with the craziest expression of utter shock he said "jesus" ahhh it was priceless. It interesting to see how the writers are hidding thier plot line as it could be really easy for them to make the anni/mitchell pairing work perfectly and smoothly however they keep throwing great obstacles and psychological factors in the way..jus to toy with us as to whether the relationship will work or not.
I find it hard to understand when people says its all annie and i must be watching another episode because when annie said who were we fooling its mitchell who kinda drags her back by bringing up all this sentimental "u give me reason to stand again" which i enjoy. All in all mitchell/annie moments highlights of the episode so i am definetly down as a shipper.

Just saw the episode, I have the same pen as Annie when she is reading Mitchell her "list"

  • Comment number 99.

that episode was so intense!!! and after seeing the promo for next week, im worried bout why mitchell was shouting at annie, i mean i just hope their relationship is not too messed up with

one thing i don't get it is, why some ppl say that they don't really see annie and mitchell's chemistry anymore?? how do we analyse that? like what are the examples?
