On any Being Human shoot there are two important locations...
The first is the set itself, where the cameras, crew and actors do their thing. The second is the unit base, a massive 'travelling circus' of lorries that set up close by to house the production team. This is where shoots are planned, actors are rushed into make-up and, most importantly, Tom the runner refills his tea urn.
The man in charge of keeping the unit base running smoothly is everyone's farourite 2nd Assistant Director, Derek, and he kindly agreed to spend a day showing us around.
Now, he looks like a nice guy, but if you don't keep to his schedule... well, let's put it this way, they don't call him 'Mad Axeman Derek' for nothing. Oh, wait, actually I'm being told they don't call him that. But he will give you a VERY ANGRY LOOK.

Didnt quite get first on here...!!!!!! Another great vid for the bloggers, very interesting as ever. I love the BH hamsters, they are beautiful.....We have a Syrian hamster called Buddy....so im a huge hamster fan. Wonderful, going to watch Derek again, loved seeing the nerve centre, the trailers, Marcus"s den etc .......

Hi BHTeam..where is Sinead's trailer thingy and why no mention of her.?...she's every which way a main character in BH2 and all twitter/bloggers love her cos ahe writes tweets to us ( yeh...you're not the only ones see...)

Hello Super, Brown, Beatrice, Brilliant and BH production team!
Another great video with gives a fantastic insight into how a TV programme is made. I've never really thought about all of this stuff before! It looks relatively easy being an actor when you see what everyone else has to do!

Loved seeing Russell too....as I've said before, Russell seems a real pleasure to work with, and very entertaining too!

Yes we had hamsters for many years particularly when my daughter was young....they didn't seem to last too long..don't think I'll go there..
Well enjoyed this..my first blog vid that I've seen at same time as all other bloggers. Agree that Derek is no way scary....I never used to find red haired men that fanciable...until Dermot Gavin hit the screens some years ago ( landscape gardener for all you young things ...ok...makes me sound ancient so will shut up ). But Derek is a lovely ..young..man. His job sounds exhausting but very interesting. And he gets to meet and talk with all those lovely people we met on Saturday.
Agree with brownirisheyes...why no mention of Sinead?...I had the impression on sat. that she was a major part of the second series.

Hi all...didn't even see this new vid...what am I like?
Tom and that t-shirt...looked like he had an ECG machine secreted about his person and it was taking his heart rate....or maybe he had that double-strength stuff under his clothing, the kind Aidan had to wear when he was staked by Herrick at the house...it looked a bit uncomfortable.
Nothing about Sinead, Annie or Aidan...maybe they've got a bit of time off or something or their filming is elsewhere..Russell looked hot though...I love his coat, that's what I was after and could I find one? Russell...where do you get your lovely duffel-style coat, hun? lol

I understand the thing about never finding red heads attractive because I have the same POV with natural blondes. Just- no.
Red heads, brunettes, fellow copper heads- yup but blondes- N-O! It's a weird thing I have.
Maybe the cast were busy or they risked over exposure after the Mayhem meet so they showed us hamsters to distract us. ;)

Lenora has been speaking to us and would like to let everyone know that this is NOT her. She was first made aware of this Twitter feed at the Nottingham Being Human event last weekend when fans mentioned it to her, but our Lenora does not actually have a Twitter feed and would like to make that clear.

Barry BH PROD: It's just one of those things...some of us at Mayhem mentioned it to her and she hadn't a clue poor girl...it's no-one fault and the only person who should feel bad about it is the one who is the imposter.. it's not clever, just silly, and it's made them look an idiot.
Lovely of you to have mentioned it to us though, so thank you for taking the time to do that...there was a guy called Aidan Turner on there at one point who, though he never said he was THE Aidan Turner, certainly never denied it and seemed to be enjoying the attention...we cottoned onto him pretty quickly and no-one follows him now that I know of.

Dorina: (45) haha...oh you and VF and I are so going to have fun with this.. you see, some weeks ago, some poor younger women on this blog decided that, well, the vampire we know and love would of course prefer them because of their youth and vigour....
I on the other hand, knew differently, and voiced my concerns...after all, I pointed out, he was actually over a 100 years old in human terms (in vampire terms he was only 26 or so, but let's not quibble over trifles), so actually all we ladies over 30 (!) would really be more his thing than some younger model as it were...we are a lot more experienced and can handle such danger... we know a few tricks or two....and now we have you to fight our corner as well, as it were...I can see we 30+ ladies are going to get on famously. hehe

Phew! Just finished BH night :-D watched back to back including extended/deletes scenes (well the good ones anyway lol) although we skipped episode 2 - I love all the George/Nina ness but man friend was impatient for the vampire and werewof sexy times lol and of course Gilbert fun :-P hardly drank anything couldnt tear bum off sofa to get it lol I've seen them so many times now but still completely engrossing :-D

Toby's comment on new Twilight film was interesting...I like a man who says it like it is and if that's what he feels, then hey, he should know, he's written BH after all...Twilight has never appealed to me, but I'd check it out just to make my own mind up.
He was right about the fans too...teenage girl fans of Twilight might strike fear into the heart of most people but we BH fans have (metaphorical) claws and we're a wily bunch...we can handle them :-)

Finally watched the video yay :-) another brilliant one thanks Mr P and Super I think I agree - he is very loveable...we're so fickle aren't we we were shouting "We love Tom" last Saturday and a week later "We love you Derek!" Lol.
Was the person in the car accident ok? Well she was able to ring in sick so I suppose she cant have been that badly hurt :-)
Derek - I want to be a runner, well to start with anyway, so to me a 2nd AD IS pretty glamorous lol seems like a great job...and I agree don't trust Russell to go anywhere on his own :-P and yay for pinky and the brain - we thought they were werewolf food but maybe not eh :-)

Anyone who is into werewolves, there's a new film out in February called The Wolfman....it's a remake of one which came out years ago, here's the link if anyone's interested in checking out a preview...got to say, the werewolf/ wolfman's transformation looks pretty astonishing...if it's as good as it looks all the way through the film, I wouldn't mind seeing it.

BH PROD TEAM: I think your blog site is still a bit hormonal! (well it was a full moon a few days ago)...
When the page is refreshed, about 50% of the time the background goes black, the text is red, blue and every colour under the rainbow, some of the pictures disappear as does the previous video list at the bottom...even the shape of the comments box changes and becomes much smaller...a couple of refreshes later and it goes back to normal, only to do the same thing a bit later on..are there still problems at your end? Would really appreciate some help on this please...

Im off to watch BH ep 6, Im not exactly seeing them back to back, but enjoyed the deleted/extended scenes yesterday.Our hamster Buddy says Hi to Pinky & The Brain....are they little Russian or Chinese hamsters ?I know Syrians like to be solitary.

Lol anglo theres also a film coming out in February called "Dogging: a love story" so something for everyone it seems lol and before someone asks me how the hell I know that it wasn't an embarrassing google session lol I work in a cinema I know the release schedule for about a year ahead at any one time. Theres also a new vampire film coming out which sounds fab but can't for the life of me remember what it's called now :-S not the cirque du freak one another one early 2010 hmm will have a butchers next time I'm at work...

I'm conflicted. I am a Twi fan. Although I've never tried to push RP under a car and the thought of watching New Moon in a cinema full of screaming girls is my worst nightmare. I also know that the books are terrible but the films are so appealing, I am easily seduced by cheekbones and brooding vampires. It's my only weakness.
I know we could take on the die-hard Twi fans! And the comment from Toby is correct, we are tenacious and mobilised. We might be fewer in numbers but our higher IQ average would ensure our win.
That said I'm still trying to figure out how to watch New Moon without having to endure the hormonal teen masses.

I hated Twilight and everything it stood for so I decided to read the books and watch the film before I carried on ripping it and the fans. My brother told me not to, he reckons they put hidden messages in the film to hypnotise women. :p He might just be right because I got drawn into the hysteria. The books aren't very good, no. I.Q tests are a bit pointless. They test the person's ability to pass I.Q tests and very little else. Intelligence can be measured in lots of ways.

AT::: not anymore..but used to have a quite interesting job...when I was a person, before I became a Mum. But as super quite rightly says IQ and knowing stuff is not the same thing. And although it was and is a great source of pride to my parents, I have always been a bit embarassed by it.

LOL sorry vf. That's not what I meant. I know this guy who has an incredibly high I.Q and he told me that the tests are pretty pointless. They just test a person's ability to pass that type of test. A bit like how in schools they teach you how to pass a test instead of actually giving you a wide variety of knowledge. If you take the test more than once your results will jump up because you know what they expect.
I can talk for England about this and it's very dull so I'll stop now. :p
Back to hair... you could try to run your fingers through it but it looks like you'd get tangled up in gel. ;) Still love his hair though.

I've seen Twilight. It's a typical Hollywood film for teenagers. It's OK, but nothing special and I don't know what all the hype is about Robert Pattinson (maybe I'd understand if I was younger!).
Still, I'd like to see the new film when it's out (next week?), but will wait a while before I see it.
I was in HMV yesterday. The whole store is filled with Twilight and Robert Pattinson and vampires!!

Agree that the Mitchell/annie hook up wouldn't really work for the show but it was clear from what Colin and Matt said at Nottingham that Matt, Rob and Toby have no overall plan and I think are still thinking about new directions for the show for third series..and maybe beyond that.

Hi all, Busy, Busy, Busy not enough hours in the day at the moment I'm a kept woman so should have loads of time, but do voluntary work at local hospital but I seem to be there more and more (was a nurse).
Bit stressed so came home and watched Aidan reciting a sonnet episode 2 OMG.. has such a calming effect on me I had to watch all of them.

Brown: On right hand side near top but not too near of the first page with the sonnet on you have, there should be a link saying Episode 5 or something...you have to go through each page and work it out...took me about 5 mins once I knew where to look...try to get that "look" in the middle of the second sonnet...if you can wait until I get home, I will email you the links to each page..

It doesn't relate to anything. It was a random question that I made up a few years ago in a maths class and have ever since tried to get answers from as many people as possible. It's great fun just to see their reactions to the question.

Brown ( 179) all for slushy music...you're doing something Rossettieish?...yum. Yes I had already seen all the sonnets...I recall drolling over them with ( and without) daughter. I did enjoy his interview. I've always giggled since at the mere mention of putting your socks on! And the imagination about him taking the sock off...well..I'm sure all too much for you younger lovelies.

Hi Anglo: I'm fine hope all is well with you too. Re you're Romeo and Juliet ref has AT actually played Paris? I have always had him in mind as Mercutio. I also put bits of the sound track from Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet on to bits of BH episode 1. 'Kissing You' by Des'ree is just perfect for the Josie sacrifice scene.
Would really love to see AT doing some Shakespeare.

Baloo & Beatrice: Hi there...both Ben and Aidan (cousins, don't you know) have done Shakespeare...I know Aidan has been at The Abbey in Dublin and was Paris in R&J as Juliet's intended husband (and she threw him for Romeo? Some people have no taste)...he's done other theatre too but can't remember what...would love to see him on stage, he said that's what made him really decide on acting as a career....wish he could play Puck in Midsummer Night's Dream...lovely!

In it is a male nurse called Jay played by Ben Turner whose father is Graham Turner, a well-known British actor (in fact I've not heard of him but that's just me) hehe....and Aidan Turner is Ben's cousin...Ben is British by the way as is Graham I think, or he may not be... Ben looks a sweetie...you can see the colouring is a resemblance, very dark curly hair and dark brown eyes....

If I have the title wrong, sorry,....hard day at work.!! Brown, if you do manage the stills, hope we got you clicking on the DR site ok... Click on each Episode on far right, and the sonnets change. Brilliant: I've got 6 don't know about 7 or 8 (I wish) but each episode page has one sonnet and they have a couple of vids on it....have ou seen the vid with Aidan talking about Rossetti? If you haven't I'll direct you to it...it's a cracker especially the end bit...you'll wince but you'll love it.
Google Desperate Romantics page on the BBC, where it says Episode 6 about 3 inches from the top in large white lettering....go down until you see a vid with a pic of Aidan looking intense cos he's trying to draw...play that vid.. then go to the same site but try to find a page with Desperate Romantics in the same place as it said Episode 6...there's a picture of all 4 of them with the bit of text to the right of it saying "A BBC six-part drama following the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood - the men who blew the art world apart"...cursor down until you see Aidan again...that's the sonnet about his wife Lizzie Siddal...it's beautiful.

We back to the question about bins again...just caught the word 'bins' briefly haven't really caught up on rest of blog but scanned very quickly.
Aidan doing anything would be enormously therapeutic not to mention a whole host of other stuff which we won't go into here as I will definitely be Modded lol! They should have him on as a guest (which nearly became gusset) dancer on Strictly...I'd pay to see that!

Google in Desperate Romantics...when you have the BBC website, there's a bit on the right side near the top that says Episode 1 or whatever...check out each Episode page (though obviously you can't see the episodes themselves, they disappeared months ago) but on each page about half-way down on the left, there are various vids you can see..I hope they haven't taken them off, because there are sonnets and stuff from the actors, little interviews they did about playing their characters and how they had to suffer for their art hehe...check out the Aidan one...quite interesting at the end (ow!)

The 4-Day passes are all sold out already and the one-day passes go on sale soon (like later this month).
If you'll be back, do you know which day you'll be coming? As a U.S. fan who actually knew about the show and had seen it before your Comic-Con appearance, I don't want to miss you guys again (I live 2 hours away from San Diego).

Hi anglo..yep, I'm here (just about) have had...still got flu. Not the interesting and exotic swine stuff...just plain, good old fashioned 'everything I've got hurts' stuff. Have not even had the eyesight to see the comp screen let alone contribute...anyway felt a bit better this a.m. so watched the sonnets...Love's Redemption seemed to do the trick!!! Don't know what caused the fever I suddenly had but felt so much better after.

Seen those deleted scenes of Aidan in The Tudors...very dashing in his doublet and hose...I missed the first and second series almost totally...I've read so many book on the Tudors because history is my thing and can't really watch JR Mayers because I don't like him as Henry...he just doesn't fit the part at all...and a little knowledge of Tudor history is a dangerous thing...nothing can compete to David Starkey or Alison Weir!

Brown's vid was good wasn't it? Yumm...I'm still salivating over it.. played it 3 times last night whilst waiting for dinner/phone to ring/stuff to happen...as you do...and I'm still a BIG fan of her Smile video with that lovely funky latin-american sounding song...such a feel-good number...I can imaging gyrating with AT to that lol....bet you and Brown can too...hehe...her other vid, the shorter one with that lovely song on by Dianne someone called I think Baby Boy is played at least once a night, usually before bedtime...can't think why!

Home for the weekend ..bliss!
Two main things to say this lovely pm having looked at the posts and Brown's vid ( more on that in a mo.)
First: did anyone else look at the link by Felicia (210) ? her mother is far too glamouress and now I feel a complete frump. ( Does anyone actually go to work dressed so sexy or is it just the world of make-up artists/beauticians ?)
Now, Brown's Rossetti vid. Well, quite simply it is one of the lovelist things I've seen in a long time...I was almost in tears watching it which is quite ridiculous for someone my age on a Friday pm! I agree with what you say about the Roberta Flack version: it's never been bettered although I think I may have Celine Dion singing it on some cd. It's such an evocative song and Aidan loked fabulous in every picture...and I don't think I can comment more on the bed pictures...all too much for a Friday pm! The clever thing was the way you matched certain pictures to certain words. Alright I'm rambling but what I wanted to say was..

Dorina: Hi there...glad to see you enjoyed brown's newest venture lol...isn't he just astonishingly gorgeous? Why? How? (Well I guess we have Mr and Mrs Turner to thank for that)....you know when someone just has "it"? He has "it" by the bucketload with extra helpings... is there anything negative about the man? Perhaps we ought not to think to much about that in case there is! RF version of that song is much better, her voice is so much deeper and richer, although LL has an amazing voice and vocal range but there is just something missing that makes RF's version that bit more emotional..don't bother too much about the emotions...it's just our hormones love!

yes, Brown your vid is simply the best....time to fire up the printer, tho its running out of colour ink after Nottingham!! Its Russells Birthday tomorrow, all the Best and have a great day!! Ive almost finished the Des Roms book, if they really wanted to they could do a second series, with more focus on William Morris and Burne Jones.....possibility, Rossetti too of course.....are you listening BBC.??The hammy got fed and work was ok, Yes I saw Felicias Mum....I dont look like that when Im off out, let alone for work.!! Hi angolirishgal and angie fan thanks for the warm welcome.. That must have been so cool to meet the cast, apparently they were filiming near me but i missed it, only seen the after effects the day later, was gutted. would love to see them in action. cant wait for January!!!! But still hoping to get a glimpse of them in Bristol, but as i understand probably not likely now as they near to finishing. x
