New to BH? Watch out, this post contains spoilers from series one...
Turning Russell Tovey into a flesh-eating 7ft werewolf is not an easy task. However, in our last trip onto the Being Human set, we've pulled out all the stops to show you exactly how this incredible scene was made.

Hi, sorry about this everyone, slight technical glitch at our end. The video is working now... hope you enjoy it!

The thought of Tovey having to do that for hours at a time is what actually makes me whince during the transformation scenes. He does an amazing job.

aha can finally watch it
poor russell, he is fantastic during those scenes, i reall hope he knows its worth it and how much we all appreciate it.
Toby says he doesn't know how Russell does it? Because he is awesome and adorkable i reckon :)

WOW, good stuff. Have said this before about the poltergeist stuff - I am so glad BH isn't opting for all CGI. I think CGI is very clever too but I love the skill and effort involved in old-school, real action stuff.
Thanks for the insight.

I've really enjoyed the "Behind the Scenes" videos, very satisfying for my inner pedantic geek!
Love the werewolf transformation - the idea that it's a truly horrendous thing to undergo really comes across. We're left in no doubt that the condition is a curse and an affliction due to the great FX and Russell's superb portrayal.
Terrific stuff - I'm so going to miss this show!

The special effects are up there with Rick Bakers 'An American Werewolf in London' transformation. Brilliant. Glad to see CGI wasn't used, as it doesn't look as good as the old fashioned way. Russel Tovey's portrayal of the transformation was first class.

The effects may be done on a budget but they worked well.
In the last episode I was cringing at all the crunching/snapping noises coming from poor George as he transformed - I really felt sorry for him.
Thanks Russell for putting up with all the make-up stuff & the effects team for a job well done.

Just been looking back over the episodes, behind the scenes stuff, previous blogs etc. I mean the whole BH team are just fab, aren't they? Everyone has done a wonderful job and the care and enthusiasm which goes into creating it all really shows. And this website has been great as well.
Just well done everyone and thank you.

That was really good to see, Russell was brilliant!
It must take the biggest amount of energy to scream constantly for hours... Russell, perfect performance couldn't have been done better.
:)

I love the image with the nose being pushed out. You couldn't have got that with CGI. This just makes me love werewolves more nad more, can't wait to see what you do in the next series.
:)

even more impressed knowing it isn't CGI, have to hand it to Russell though it really does seem tough and he pull it off amazing you actually feel his pain

Just want to add to the general Russell Tovey love - he just just fantastic throughout the whole episode. I'm delighted that the final episode focused on George's journey, it could have just been a fight-fest but it really was all about 'being human'. Really satisfying conclusion.
On another note, poor poor Nina. Bloody hell. I'm a little bit distraught for her, and she's fictional. Damn you Whithouse.

Just watched it, the guy needs a medal for the contacts alone...well done Russell. Brilliant.

Russell..what can I say? He's just fantastic at this! He must have endless patience.
His portrayal of George is wonderfull: a bit of an Andrex puppy, while his werewolf appears agonisingly painfull and vicious, whilst at the same time sorrowfull.

What sort of techniques does Russell use to avoid straining his voice?
There can't be too many takes of the screeching on any given shoot, I'd imagine.
