An Early Glimpse of the Boss

Before the festival started I wrote that New Jersey rockers The Gaslight Anthem would provide perfect arm-pumping, fist-raising practice for Bruce Springsteen's headline set tonight.

That was an underestimate. After playing three songs singer Brian Fallon introduced a special guest to the stage - none other than Mr Springsteen himself. Amid cries of "B-R-U-U-U-C-E!" they tore through album title track The 59 Sound. Bruce then enjoyed the rest of the band's set from the side of the stage.

You can watch the track in full now on the Glastonbury website.

Pity Bruce does not get decent coverage on the BBC, same story as Neil Young it seems and regulated to some highlights. Why bother highlighting these acts on your adverts when you had no intention in showing them.

Simple comment and question - why is the mix so bad on these live feeds? The vocals are terrible and way too much bass. For goodness' sake let's hear what he's singing ...

Just for the record, we're now nearing the end of the live broadcast of Bruce's set on BBC Two and the website, which will be available to watch again for a week.

I have never heard of Gaslight Anthem before but I when I was checking out the Blog site last night - I saw the pix with Boss playing with them and then saw them singing together on the TV, they certainly meshed well together.

I echo some of the comments above. What happened to the missing hour of Springstee's set? Why didnt the BBC show the whole set? It was especially gauling to listen to Mark Radcliffe immediately following his set, say, 'wow, that must have been 2.5hrs!' Great! Thank you BBC, esp as we only saw 1.5hrs of it!
