Pic of the Day: h2g2 MOT

At the time this picture is published I'll be in a room with other BBC people doing the h2g2 MOT.
Thanks for all your comments on Seetha's post, which have stimulated a lot of conversation in the office in the past week.
We won't be able to give you instant feedback (and some things in the room may have to remain in the room). But expect a blog post giving a flavour of what was discussed early next week.

This must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays.

I have to admit I'm pacing up and down nervously.

Paces up and down beside Dr Zen, carefully not panicking and carefully not eating the small piece of fairy cake.

That's a very comforting 'Pic of the Day', thanks for putting it up here, and thanks for the information.

No need to pace or be anxious. The MOT went well. More details next week.

This blog pic gave me my first laugh of the day (being brunch time here) - a cheery, heartening laugh - usually I get that from h2g2 itself ;-)
Thanks Nick, you seem like a sweety.

That sounds incourageing but I am still anxious . Never believe anything until it is officially denied and all that .

Will wait until it is signed, sealed and delivered though...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some really positive things will come out of the MOT. To my mind, h2g2 needs some TLC to reinvigorate it and make it the site it should be.
That's not to say I don't love it the way it is - it's a very special site that I love to bits. It's time for the BBC to show some affection for it, too!

i can but only hope that the weight of messages from just a few days has made them realise that h2g2 shoulld be kept.
If they put more than 3 lines of h2g2 on the bbc home page than more people might notice -i must admit I found the website that way so more coverage should therefore equal more people on the site.

lil #16,
"Did anybody mention the Search Engine?"
Specifically, the thread search function. There's a clunky but usable "Search the Guide" if you have the patience to click through to each result until you find what you're looking for, but the "Search the Conversation Forums" is stone dead.
"We're sorry, but your search for '[whatever]' didn't find any results in any DNA sites. You might like to check the spelling of your search term, or you could try searching the whole of bbc.co.uk using the search box in the tool bar above." is the response to every search, and has been for six years or more.

And the MOT blog just keeps getting longer! Note that a name change in mid-debate (from FekoniousMonk to FilthyMcNasty) might confuse the issue a little when reading and connecting the various comments.
I'm sure the 'MOT results blog' will have many readers. Could a copy of the main entry also be posted on h2g2 itself? I'm sure it'll be a 'reference' for a long time to come.

Single Sign In ???
It would seem that by signing in to h2g2 or BBC Online you automatically become a BBC Blogger and part of the BBC Blogg Network. As a silver surfer who just lurks around with little or no technical knowhow would someone point me to the rules and conditions for this practice. I created a personal space on h2g2, I am not sure that I want the space/profile that is being created on my behalf.

Is it the intention to develop the BBC Blogg Network along h2g2 lines using the DNA engine ?

More to come was promised. Give us a clue as to what is going on.
What control will members/researchers have over their own profile ?

There needs to a link between the new h2g2 front page and the BBC blog network and visa versa.

Hi,
Has there been a blog post that I've missed? I am anxious to hear the full report for this MOT (well, as full as non-BBC people are allowed, I'm sure!).
Thanks,
Vip
