Interesting Stuff 2009-07-24: BBC Trust publishes additional information on Project Canvas
Earlier today the BBC Trust published some additional information from the BBC Executive about Project Canvas.
The press release states the additional information covers the following areas:
The choice of technical standards to be adopted by Canvas;The proposed way in which the BBC would work with industry bodies;
Control of the Electronic Programme Guide;
Governance arrangements for the joint venture;
The use of editorial controls.

Flexibility for users
As described above, we expect the UX to be customised by audiences.
Customisation of look and feel of the core UI, especially for reasons of accessibility will also be allowed where technically feasible
Will this customisation extend to the option to switch off Digital On Screen Graphics? One would hope that this would be an option.

@Tengsted: unless they're broadcast as an MHEG overlay, or similar, I can't see this being terribly likely.

That's a shame.
It's good to see that there's customisation for the end user, although all that thought going in to a nice clean looking EPG, and the programmes are cluttered means does it really matter?

Are all the programs really cluttered with it though? Seriously? Most of them are not. Unless you watch the news all day whose graphics (on the bbc atleast) tend to be there for a good reason. Or do you just watch T4, QVC and the free music channels?
