Sugar is the new tobacco

Sugar is the new tobacco, so says a group of nutrition experts who say that we are being fed far too much sugar – even in foods that wouldn’t appear to need sugar as an ingredient. Take a can of fizzy cola – that has about seven teaspoons of sugar in it – or a low fat yoghurt which can have about five teaspoons. It’s absolutely true, in my opinion. Sugar is the new tobacco. So good luck getting anything done about it for at least fifty years.
