Well done to Catherine Zeta Jones for coming out about her depression. Today, it was announced that she's booked herself into a rehab clinic for a month for treatment for bipolar II - what they used to call manic depression.
Her brave words: "This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them" will resonate with many and shows a healthier trend towards people admitting they have the disorder, and talking about it.
For instance, her revelation gave us a chance to talk about it this very morning. It does still depend on your particular GP, and where you live in the UK as to what sort of help you might be offered within the NHS. But here, it seems we are lucky in Berkshire. Talking Therapies Berkshire helped 8,000 people last year. What's more you don't even have to go to them through your GP - you can even self-refer online. A great step forward for those who can't quite afford a Catherine Zeta Jones type clinic!
