Basking in reflected glory

Just being a proud mum today, basking in reflected glory. Five minutes before going on air, my baby son (now 18) phoned me to say he’d been offered a place at Oxford Uni. For the next few hours, I’ve had little texts from him showing that only gradually was it really sinking in. It hasn’t really sunk in for me, yet, either. I’m someone who never went to university myself – always wanted to and always carried a chip on my shoulder that I hadn’t. Guess that’s why I have always wanted my children to – and now they all have! Thanks so much to everyone who’s got in touch to express their congrats, not just to my son, but to their mum, too. Phew – it’s been quite a journey.
