Belsonic have this evening announced their first five headliners. The popular festival, now in it's fifth year, will once again take place at Custom House Square, Belfast this August.
Dubstep/electro pioneer Skrillex will headline on Wednesday August 15, ska legends Madness on August 17, Bangor's Two Door Cinema Club on Thursday August 23, Tom Jones on August 24 and James Morrison on August 25.
Cast of Cheers and Noah & The Whale will support Two Door Cinema Club while Dillon Francis is on the bill alongside Skrillex with other supports and further headliners set to be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets for the events announced this evening go on sale this Monday.
IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation) will hold its Live Music Venue of the Year Awards on Tuesday 28th February at IMRO HQ at Copyright House in Dublin. The annual awards take place in celebration of live music venues in Ireland, with pubs, hotels, arts centres, theatres and purpose built live venues all qualifying for the gong.
Along with the 'Live Music Venue of the Year Award', the event will include the 'Best Music Festival' category, as well as the Hot Press Readers Award for 'Best Live Music Venue' as voted by their readers.
Live performances on the night will featured Derry based laureate Rainy Boy Sleep, Jape and The Young Folk.
The 8th Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival begins today with more than 100 songwriters over 43 gigs in the city.
The event goes on until this Sunday with the likes of Nick Lowe, Nanci Griffith, John Oates, Fionn Regan, Gareth Dunlop, Iain Archer and many more playing over the 5 days.
