Bona fide living legend John Cale is among the acts due to be announced for this year's Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival.

The Welshman, who was a founding member of the Velvet Underground along with Lou Reed, will play at the festival Marquee at Custom House Square on May 3rd. Cale has been musically active since the late 1950's with a restless career that spans many genres from rock to avant-garde. He has also penned several soundtracks and worked in the field of classical music.

Other acts heading to the 13th year of the bash include Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, Yacht and the Monochrome Set. The CQAF is one of several high profile cultural events threatened by recent government cuts to the arts.
