MCD have announced that the annual Oxegen festival will take a break in 2012 returning in 2013. A statement issued on the Oxegen website explains, ‘"Oxegen, like Glastonbury, is taking a year off in 2012 and will be back July 2013."

Rumours have been rife over the last few weeks with several indications alluding to the absence of the festival in 2012. The early bird tickets for 2012, usually released at this time of year, did not go on sale. Also, the announcement of The Stone Roses as headliners at Oxegen’s ‘sister’ festival T in the Park but not the Punchestown festival was a massive hint that it may not take place in 2012.
