Oxegen 09 - The Brilliant Things

Post categories:

ATL | 20:22 UK time, Friday, 10 July 2009

IMRO Stage, Friday 10th July, 7.30pm

Describe in a Tweet: What the flipping heck is this?

What Happened: A very strange mix of goth-rock and sugar pop, but no amount of feather boa guitar straps and billowy skirts can mask the fact that this band are a wee bit dull, we're sorry to say. The sole highlight being a slightly more than pedestrian cover of Blondie's 'Dreamin is Free'. Think MUSE fronted by baby spice.

This is a High: Guitarist Gregg bears a passing resemblance to Irish rugby hero, prompting discussion as to whether a blister from his six string could be the reason for the Lions' recent tour demise.

This is a Low: Oh where to begin...

Oxegen Rating: 4/10

i thought they were great ,and having seen them before on the main stage opening the festival with The Artane Band, they blow me away, it was only amazing ,i do think they feed of the crowd, and to be honest , this was not there most energetic performance ,i love their music . As for "Dreamin is free" ,I would think someone reviewing a music gig would at least know that the title of the brilliant Blondie song is "DREAMIN" not "dreamin is free" i also have my suspicians that he or she is more a rugby fan than a music one , STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW obviously rugby

Good that you enjoyed. At the end of the day ATL is a big team of differing opinions and yours counts as much as anyone's. We didnt enjoy the lads on the day, and it all seems=ed a little muddled and neither one thing or another, but its all about context innit..
re the Blondie title slip - we were advised poorly by older boys :(
