Today, Tuesday 26 March, marks 90 years since the first daily weather forecasts on BBC Radio. The service began in 1923 and has continued ever since, except for a hiatus during the Second World War.

To mark the event here’s a clip from the Today programme on Radio 4 (Tuesday 26 March) featuring former assistant director of the Met Office and member of the Royal Meteorological Society Stan Cornford, and Helen Roberts, a Met Office meteorologist.
