BBC Radio Humberside, BBC Tees and BBC Newcastle have all been nominated for Station of the Year at this year’s Sony Radio Academy Awards. The first two appear in the 300,000 to 1 million category and BBC Newcastle in the 1 million plus category.

BBC Radio stations and programmes have a strong showing across 28 categories. The Listening Project - a partnership between BBC Radio 4, BBC local and national radio stations, and the British Library which uses intimate conversations between listeners and their friends and family to create a unique picture of our lives today, archived by the British Library, appears in the Best Use of Multiplatform and Best Speech Programme categories.

Radio 2’s 500 Words, which aims to get children aged 13 and under writing short stories, is nominated for Best Competition.
