British Comedy Award for Best Sitcom went to BBC Four’s Getting On

Last night the British Comedy Awards were held in London with BBC shows collecting the coveted trophy in a number of categories including Best Comedy Panel Show - Would I Lie To You, Best Comedy Entertainment Programme – The Graham Norton Show and Best Sitcom which went to BBC Four’s Getting On. Congratulations also to Jack Whitehall (Backchat, Bad Education) who was crowned King of Comedy by the general public. A full list of winners is available on the British Comedy Awards website.

Following on from the success of BBC Comedy, BBC Drama are celebrating a number of Golden Globe nominations, which were announced today. Shows including Luther, Dancing on the Edge, The White Queen and Burton And Taylor are represented with nominations for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress in a Mini Series or TV Movie categories. The Golden Globes Award Ceremony will be held on January 12, 2014.

Clare Balding, Gary Lineker and Gabby Logan will host Sports Personality of the Year 2013

The BBC hold it’s own award ceremony on Sunday 15th December, when the winner of the 60th Sports Personality of the Year is announced. The winner is decided by the public who vote for their favourite sportsperson from a shortlist of ten contenders, either by phone or online, during the programme. The event will be broadcast live on BBC One at 7.40pm from the First Direct Arena in Leeds.
