image description The world’s best goalkeeper?

A bizarre video has surfaced on the internet in which former Japanese footballer Tatsuhiko Kubo attempts to beat a ‘goalkeeping toilet’. Apparently invented as a Japanese promotional campaign, the strange mechanism blocks every shot.

But which team will be the first to sign it up?

It seems you got this one wrong Mario...
image description Time for the toilet?

After this Romanian keeper had a shocker at the weekend in the Liga II Seria 2, maybe the goalkeeping toilet will be called into action after all.

Although it won’t be able to score spectacular goals like this one...

We admire Stephane Mbia’s honesty. The QPR midfielder has been talking about how little he knew about the club before joining.

Lifelong Wigan fan, Tom Gill received a special treat for his 100th birthday. Wigan manager, Roberto Martinez popped round for a cuppa bearing gifts.

Better than a letter from the Queen.
image description Such a cool finish…

Shame it was in his own net! Panathinaikos lost 0-1 to Lazio last night in The Europa League. Their right-back, Giourkas Seitaridi scored the only goal of the game, he spotted a gap in his own defence and slotted it home.

Just check out his composure in front of (his own) goal.

On yesterday’s blog we featured ‘Heskey Cam’. Well last night we asked if he could live up to the fuss. And he did, scoring two goals.

Including an overhead kick… well you could call it that.

606 at Octoberfest

Post categories:

Producer Jamie Producer Jamie | 19:00 UK time, Monday, 15 October 2012

On Saturday the 606 team took the trip to Sheffield to be part of 5 live's Octoberfest for a programme from The Crucible.

While were there we also helped break a Guinness World Record: BBC Radio 5 live and BBC Radio Sheffield successfully broke the record for the ‘Most players to play in a continuous 5-a-side football exhibition match.’ Robbie played in the final moments of the match. After the record was broken, 606 played Fighting Talk in a friendly (sort of). Robbie and Darren put in a shift in a team that featured James and Oliver Phelps, the Weasley twins from Harry Potter, and some of the 606 production team and Jason made his debut as The Gaffer.

The game ended 3-3. We’re sure Colin Murray will say the reason for the draw is because he had to be carried off injured. We’ll have to see about that in a re-match won’t we? Watch this space. After catching our breath, we re-fuelled for the show. Hosts Robbie Savage, Jason Roberts, Mark Chapman and Darren Fletcher engaged in plenty of interesting debate, the most popular subject being diving. Robbie became increasingly frustrated as many of the live audience suggested that Gareth Bale dived to win his penalty against Scotland on Friday night. He got so annoyed, he invited one member of the crowd to reenact the move. Ian, being the good sport that he was gracefully accepted.

Here are a few photos from the show at The Crucible.

Thanks to all of you that came to the show on Saturday. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. If you missed the show and want to listen again you can via the BBC iPlayer. You can also download a podcast for the show.

Oh and we also invited the England Supporters band to The Crucible and Robbie warmed up with them backstage. Who said Robbie likes to blow his own trumpet?

Certainly the greatest current player. Or is he? Cristiano Ronaldo puts a spanner in that sentence. Two goals each on Sunday is just the tip of the iceberg. "It should be forbidden to say who is the best in the world because these two are from another planet," said Mourinho. And who are we to disagree? They certainly are a joy to watch right now.

In PSG’s Champions League tie last night, Ancelotti brought on Lavezzi as a 73rd minute substitute only to take him off on 80 minutes. He said it was because the player had a muscular problem…

Lavezzi certainly showed him where he can put his ice!

Twitter has given footballers the opportunity to show the world embarrassing pictures of their team-mates. Moussa Dembele seems like he’s fitted in at Spurs…

As he tweets a picture of this sleeping beauty.

The Newcastle striker hit a stumbling block earlier today when he realised he had nothing to drink in the house. So he did what any of us would do, right? Not really…

Top of the league, HJK Helsinki visited bottom of the league Haka, hoping for a routine win. But after finding themselves two-nil down, they had to pull off their party trick – taking two throw-ins.

The ultimate deterrent…
image description Has Sergio Ramos had enough as a defender?

The Real Madrid star is currently being linked with a move out of The Bernabeu, could it be because he wants to play a more advanced role?

Or did he just put on Mesut Ozil’s shirt on by accident?
image description Sign Da Ting

Theo Walcott is the subject of much discussion at the moment. After being benched recently, many believe the Englishman may be the next to leave The Emirates. But Arsenal fans want his signature on a new contract.

Check it out this fan-made grime track urging Theo to ‘Sign Da Ting’.

The title says it all, a cracking volley from Palmero’s Fabrizio Miccoli.

You won’t see a better hit all season.

Last time we saw something like this was at the circus......
image description   The imaginary goal

Stoke lost to Chelsea last weekend at Stamford Bridge 1-0, at least we think they did.....The Potters matchday programme has left fans and media alike wondering if we missed an equaliser.

The positive spin here is admirable.
image description   What a bummer!
