After arriving in a teddy bear T-shirt, which I wasn't completely opposed to, we had some fun with some swank accesories.... But eventually....
Taddaaa! The reinvention of Jam! I felt like I wanted to connect Mistajam to the street, where the biggest look on road is a 'Star in the Hood' T-shirt, which I decided to take to the next level with matching hood / scarf / Shoal (inspired by the lovely Tinchy Stryder), add a pair of sunnies (to be worn at all times!) and if you look close enough you'll see his trainers are called 'Sir Jam's'. Amazing!

? Verdicts please????

A new look for the Nelson...

As I'm learning more and more, even as a radio presenter it's important too maintain a half decent look - not only do we have a ridiculous amount of gorgeously turned out guests coming by to visit us all the time but we currently have - 1Xtra Live to think about! We delved into my fahion resources and fixed up Trevor Nelson in preparation.

What do you think of Trev's new looks? Orginally I tried to go for a 'Carlton Banks' ,and though I adored him in a bow tie, developments led too a more 80's Ska kinda vibe coutesy of the vintage pork pie hat. I would love it it Trev announced to Dizzee to 12,000 people in this outfit of Sat!

N-DUBZ OBSESSION

My latest obsession officially consists of N-Dubz, you might think I'm a little late? BUT, awareness and obsession are quite different things..

Ah, I like going in to see to Jo Whiley on a Saturday afternoon to indulge in a girly chat about nice clothes and things...

We just talked about our Top Of The Shops - with an online twist...Basically, the top 3 websites that are currently blowing my fashion mind...

Guess who beat Serena at her own game?

Though I'm not a massive sports head, I knew the sheer importance of this morning's guest by how twitchy and excited Trevor was getting from the moment I saw him first thing, too her arrival. By the time she did arrive, the studio was rammed with people (strangely all men) that were milling around pretending to do things but wanted to catch a glimpse of the Tennis beauty. She also played tennis against Trevor on the Wii during the news... Guess what... TREVOR BEAT HER!

I especially liked finding out about her life away from the racket.. Serena fans, have a listen below!

Yesterday we had the lovely Joss Stone in with us, talking about her new album Colour Me Free and she was telling us all about her past encounters with our very own Trevor, they go back years!!

I bet I could balance a pumpkin on my head..every night I go out and balance full pint glasses on my head and go up n down. Its my party trick! And I can d o champagne bottles haha! Usually end up with soaking hair by end of night tho loool. Joanne in stoke on trent

DIZZEE MAKES MUSICAL HISTORY

When you work on the radio life is very quick, everything is instant and amazing things pass by quickly (especially at if you work at 1Xtra!). Last night something happened that I think should be reveled in and enjoyed for quite a while yet. 1Xtra's takeover of the BBC's electric proms kicked some serious butt. The coming together of a full live band and the energy of Dizzee Rascal was a stroke of genius, that not only highlighted the power of collaboration but how a young grime MC from East London could possibly end up changing the face of pop music. If you haven't seen it you need too...
(In the middle of typing this blog entry) I just got distracted by a phone call from one of my friends who said that she watched it on the TV and felt emotional "A real crossover moment..." she said and I couldn't have put it better myself.

P.S During the preparation to this mighty gig, 1Xtra did what it does best and took over the venue with all sorts of imaginings and happenings. For example... a Q&A session with N-Dubz, some locals and me too, which of course involved some ridiculous hat trying on and they performed a couple of their tunes acoustically.

Oh and I took part in some krumping of course...

P.P.S Just got distracted by yet another phone call whilst finishing off this blog... From a 1X exec... "....So.... about...." she said before teasing my brain with ideas for something massive (that I'm not allowed to mention yet! - too find out listen to Trev's show on Sat night!!) we are putting on at the end of November. See what I mean about how quickly it moves.

More than a bit of FLUFF?

Riding solo today I invited the lovely ladies form a collective of new fashion designers called UN-TOLD, they dressed me up in the space of two songs and gave us some tips on how to look exquisite during Autumn and Winter. Chantell Walters' creation transformed me from a pyjama clad breakfast host into a Rihanna music video extra (I wish!) in two songs (though i did have to change under the desk with the studio blind down whilst the gentlemen in the studio keep their eyes shut, ahhhh fashion!).
