Morello
|
The
band are Liz Fieldhouse - vocals and rhythm guitar, Stuart Thomas
- lead guitar and vocals, Helen Russell - vocals and guitar, Andy
Roye - bass and Bill Devey - drums and percussion.
Liz's
vocals have character and distinction and she does banter, dances,
plays the electric, acoustic and even the inflatable guitar...
Stewart
Thomas is a great lead guitar player. His playing drives the tunes,
is complicated but not intrusive.
Morello
know they have a winning formula. They smile. They play to entertain,
with spirit and a sense of fun.
What
do they sound like? Think Van Morrison and Dido mixed up with 50's
rock n roll rhythms - rhythms that grew funkier as the night drew
in.
They
played their own songs (written by Liz Fieldhouse and Stuart Thomas),
the songs flow, the lyrics sound right. The songs they played on
Saturday included 'Half a Mile', 'Love Licence' and 'Almost Grown'.
They
covered Morrison's 'Moondance' and 'Closer to Fine' by the Indigo
Girls. They closed their two hour set with a crowd pleasing five
piece accapella version of Prince's 'Seven'.
Morello
have a light, sure touch - they provided the perfect soundtrack
to a warm summer evening. Highly recommended.
