The
walks have been chosen so that almost anyone can use them. Within
the network of footpaths, three short health walks are highlighted
on each leaflet. As well as using the map, you can follow the written
directions. Alternatively, you can design your own route from the
footpaths shown.

BLACK
COUNTRY URBAN FOREST |
In
the old industrial region, there are many public parks and wilder
'urban countryside' where nature has turned derelict land, old quarries
and abandoned railway lines into new woodlands.
There
are over 1000 small woodlands across the region and these, together
with existing trees in streets, parks and gardens are what is known
as the Black Country Urban Forest.
The
urban forest provides a habitat for wildlife and helps to clean
up air pollution and reduce the risk of flooding.
