Meet Chris Morgan - the strongest lad in the land. ![]() 'Britain's Strongest Man' Chris, 17 from Willenhall, says he eats on average seven times a day, consuming more than 5,000 calories. He's officially recognised as 'Britain's Strongest Schoolboy' after picking up the title during a competition in Kent in July 2009. "It was quite tough," he says. "There were six events and by the time I'd done the fourth one, no-one could catch me on points. It was a pretty distinguished win!" The six rounds included challenges such as repeatedly lifting 75kg worth of logs, flipping 360kg of tyres and dragging a 120kg beer keg across 25 metres, all in set time limits. ![]() Party trick "The first time I went in a gym I found out I was pretty strong so people told me to get into strongman," remembers the youngster, a pupil at Pool Hayes School. "Hopefully one day I'll get to 'World's Strongest Man'." So what does mum Debbie feed him on? "Anything I can get my hands on!" she laughs. "Loads of pasta, pies, chicken and fish. He eats every three hours!" Chris' party piece involves a 220 stone Reault Clio. On command, he can squat one side of the car clean off the ground to the amazement of onlookers. ![]() Chris squatting 320kg "Some of my mates can't understand me," he laughs. "Why would I want to pick up logs and boulders? It's a great sport and a great hobby and I love it. Sometimes I do get people having a go at me. You do get those who tend to go for the biggest person. But I just deal with it!" "I'd like to thanks Lee Marshall and Collesium Jim. They're two guys who took me under their win and taught me how to do this. I'm really grateful to them." last updated: 31/07/2009 at 13:01 SEE ALSOYou are in: Black Country > People > Your Stories > Britain's strongest schoolboy |
