Local artist and resident Teresa Crawford-Docherty has transformed a vandal-plagued phone box into what is thought to be Britain's smallest art gallery. Boasting just nine square feet of floor space, the Little Un Gallery in Cradley, opened on Sunday 14th June, showcasing 52 works of art sourced from Britain and America. ![]() The Little Un Gallery Around 60 people gathered at the booth for its official opening, and the publics Teresa said: "There has not been a phone in the booth for about two years and local kids come and kick the glass out and congregate here. "I just wanted to do something that made it a little more aesthetically pleasing." Forty year old Teresa organised the unusual conversion in the hope that it would provide a facility for the community and cut levels of anti-social behaviour around the booth. ![]() Art on display But, within four hours of its official unveiling, the gallery in Banners Street witnessed its first theft. Someone helped themselves to one of the canvases painted by Teresa and a pencil attached to a wishing tree. This gallery obviously doesn't have the same high level project of most galleries - in fact it doesn't have any at all! Teresa admitted to being a "little bit gutted" at the theft of her canvas, a work addressing the issue of climate change and worth about £60. However Teresa is remaining positive and is pleased if she can bring a little enjoyment into someone's life. "I expected it to last more than four hours, but hopefully whoever took it will enjoy it," said the art student, who is studying for a master degree at the University of Wolverhampton.
