The E-Go army invade

Black Country rockers The E-Go's played live on BBC WM Introducing to the delight of their fans. Listen again to their set right here.

The five piece outfit treated listeners to live renditions of their hits 'Snakes & Ladders', 'The Lights' and 'Shut Up & Wait' during their performance. They also unveiled a brand new song - 'Our Time' - which was only fully rehearsed 24 hours earlier.

The E-Go's got together in 2006 but by their own admission the first year 'wasn't fantastic'.

Speaking live on BBC WM Introducing, vocalist Dan Harris said:

"I think we started taking it a bit more seriously in the second year and actually started playing gigs (laughs). As far as the name goes, me and (rhythm guitarist) J used to work together in a building society. J's girlfriend worked in the same branch as us and I was the boss of both of the two of them.

"J's girlfriend wasn't my biggest fan. When we got the band together we couldn't think of a name. She said to J: 'You should just call the band 'The E-Go'. I said we've got to stick to that! J's engaged to her now so it's all good!"

Over the last 12 months, The E-Go's have built a huge fanbase - who call themselves 'The E-Go Army' - and have gigged extensively around the West Midlands.

"We played The Wulfrun a couple of months ago with The Young Knives which was really good fun. It was very different. The Wulfrun is the best - I think it's better than the Civic. It's a really good venue to be in as there's loads of stuff going on. We love Katie Fitzgerald's in Stourbridge too and have a couple of gigs there coming up before the end of the year."
