From taking local children from care homes swimming to helping out at bingo at the local hospices for the elderly. Over the years Donato has taken part and organised many charity events from Red Nose Days, cycling 120 miles from Bristol to London on 8 consecutive years, to taking part in the London Boat race which is 23 miles from Richmond to Greenwich. ![]() British Heart Foundation Biggest challenge yetAfter his youngest brother Pietro had suffered a heart attack, which he fortunately survived, it prompted him to look into the work of the British Heart Foundation do. Having discovered that heart disease is the number one killer in the UK, he decided to do his bit to raise money for the charity. Having been fortunate to travel to many countries across a number of continents including Europe, Asia, Africa and North America, Donato wanted to take on a charity challenge that involved travel to a new location. He decided to take on a Peru Inca trail trek challenge to raise funds for the BHF. Although walking is not his favourite challenging activity, he decided to take on the challenge: "It was probably the most challenging thing I have ever done in my life, both physically and mentally and at the same time most rewarding," says Donato. When asked what challenge next? The programmes produced include the broadest possible range of material, so you can be creative, unconventional, or just be yourself – ALL ideas are welcome. Previous radio experience is not essential. However, submissions from existing community radio projects are encouraged, as is pre-produced material. Once a programme or feature idea has been selected, technical and production support can be provided by BBC WM where required.
