'Independent Living' at Walsall Town Hall is an opportunity for people in Walsall who have a physical disability or impairment to find out how Walsall Council can help them. ![]() At 'Independent Living' 2007 The event is aimed at people that either have, or look after someone with a physical disability, sensory impairment or brain injury. At previous events children, pensioners and their families have attended and been able to find a service that helped them or a loved one maintain their home, access education and training or access care services. "At these events 86% of attendees found out about help available that they never knew existed!" says organiser Vicki Mann. ![]() At 'Independent Living' 2007 More than 35 organisations will be at this event to explain their services including Walsall Society for the Blind, Walsall Deaf Peoples Centre, Walsall Adapted Housing Service, Walsall Hospitals NHS Trust, Walsall Teaching Primary Care Trust, Shopmobility, Over 50’s Forum, Welfare Rights, housing providers and many other organisations. Musical entertainment is also planned. Admission is free. A free cup of tea is on offer, too. The event will take place at Walsall Town Hall from 12.30 – 4pm, Tuesday 18 March 2008, and will be opened by the Mayor of Walsall Cllr Melvin Pitt.
