Charity bash

Celebrities and the local community have clubbed together for the Sandwell Asian Family Support Service's 21st anniversary event on 31st August 2007.

Sandwell Asian Family Support Service (SAFSS) is to hold a special event for it's 21st anniversary, celebrating the achievements of South Asian children and young people with disabilities in Sandwell.

SAFSS, established in 1986 works with families and breaks down the cultural and language barriers they face in accessing services, helping them to lead more independent lives.

It provides services such as an after school club, a care at home service, a young adults group, parents and carers support group and a liaison and outreach service.

The dinner and dance event on the 31st August will raise funds for activities and trips for SAFSS. It will be hosted by BBC's Satnam Rana and Sukhi Burt.

Well known Bollywood singers Hitesh and Rama will be performing. Along with Taz, one of the biggest selling Asian fusion artists of all time, and the Aashiyana Dance Company.

SAFSS Chief Executive Parpinder K Dhatt said:

"My sincere thanks to all the celebrities and sponsors for their support and generous donations. At this event we will raise much needed funds for our work with children and young people with disabilities and make a real difference to the community that we serve."

The dinner and dance will be held at Samson's Palace, Oldbury on 31st August 2007, commencing at 7pm.
