Samantha Moore teaches Animation in Digital Media at the University's School of Art and Design.

She recently unveiled her short film The Beloved Ones at the Cannes Short Film Corner and spent several days mingling with the stars

"Cannes was an amazing, overwhelming, completely glamorous experience," said Samantha. "I got to go up the red carpet at a premiere, brushed shoulders with celebs and saw some fantastic new films."

Her picture The Beloved Ones is an animated documentary about orphaned children living alone after losing their parents to HIV/AIDS.

It took six months to complete and was made thanks to a £9,000 award from the UK Film Council and Screen West Midlands.

Samantha and her producer Joshka Wessels, who accompanied her on the trip, were impressed with the feedback the film received. She said:

"Response to our film was very positive and we hope that its participation in the festival will help raise its profile further.

"Joshka and I met some interesting people at some of the networking events, and made some really useful contacts, which hopefully will help us in our future."
