Undefined in final

Nu-metal band Undefined are through to the final of a national battle of the bands competition. There are prizes worth thousands of pounds at stake.

Undefined, a five-piece rock/metal band from Wolverhampton and Dudley, have won an Amicus 'Band of Britain Award' regional final.

The band formed in 2001 and have gigged mostly around Birmingham and the Black Country. Al sings lead vocals, D does bass and vocals, Myk hits the drums and sings backing vocals. Ste and Fav both play guitar.

Undefined performed at the battle of the bands regional heat, held at Rock City in Nottingham, on Thursday 8 June 2006.

They now go onto the final of the competition, in London at the More Music Festival.

In London, Undefined will be battling against the best of the thousands of unsigned bands, from across the UK, that have entered the competition.

In the final they'll be facing the Jan Watkins Band - winners of the Cardiff heat, Bang She's Dead - winners of the Glasgow heat, If I Were King - winners of the Leeds heat and The Idanos - winners of the Manchester regional final.

If judged, by music industry professionals, to be the best band, Undefined will win the headline slot at The More Music Festival at The Scoop on London’s South Bank, studio time with a top producer and a package of top-flight musical equipment.

The band described their Rock City performance as "blistering". Wendy Favill, manager of Undefined, said:

“We’re ecstatic to get through to the final of the Band of Britain Award.  Now we really hope to win, perform at the festival and increase our exposure.”

And why is a trade union sponsoring a battle of the bands competion? Terry Pye, Amicus regional secretary for the West Midlands:

“Young people are the most vulnerable people at work, often victims of age discrimination, and are the least likely to join a union. Through this competition, we hope to show them the link between music and politics.”

The final will take place on Wednesday 5 July at The More Music Festival, London.

Before then, Undefined's crunching guitar riffs, catchy guitar hooks and growling vocals can be heard in Stoubridge on the 25th June at the Rock Cafe.
