Most candidates (over 90%) study the USA, so this revision bite will concentrate on the content required for this part of the course.

Content and concepts

In this part of the syllabus you should know:

  • The ideology of the USA (Capitalism, The American Dream)
  • Equality and Inequality in the USA (wealth, rights etc.)
  • Participation in the USA
  • Ways of protesting in the USA (Interest Groups)

Before your Standard Grade exam you should revise each of these topics.

Knowledge and Understanding questions for this Syllabus Area will be based on four concepts:

  • Equality
  • Ideology
  • Participation
  • Rights and responsibilities
