There are usually about 12 questions in this Paper

The following numerical skills may be assessed in the non-calculator paper – everything from the Foundation section and the General section plus:


  • Order of operations
  • (843 ÷ 30) - 1.09
  • 24.7 - 0.63 x 30


  • Order of operations
  • \frac{2}{7} of \frac{1}{4} + \frac{2}{5}


  • 4\frac{1}{3} - 1\frac{1}{2}


  • 3 {1 \over 6} \div 1\frac{2}{3}



  • Order of operations
  • 40% of £11.50 - £1.81

Negative numbers

  • Multiply or divide where negative numbers are involved.
