General - numerical skills

There are usually about 12 questions in this Paper.

The following numerical skills may be assessed in the non-calculator paper – everything from the Foundation section plus the following:

Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

  • 38 x 11
  • 23 x 6000

Decimals

  • 9.32 - 5.6 + 4.27
  • 37.6 x 8
  • 6.39 x 9
  • 3.23 x 60
  • 256.9 ÷ 7
  • 8.74 ÷ 200
  • 2680 ÷ 4000

Fractions

  • \frac{5}{6} of 420

     

  • \frac{5}{8} - \frac{1}{4}

     

  • 5 x 4^{\frac{1}{3}}

Percentages

  • 5% of £3.25
  • 80% of 54

Negative numbers

  • Add or subtract where negative numbers are involved
  • 5 x (-4)
