Five Year Plan

The Five Year Plans

  • The First Five Year Plan 1928- 1932 concentrated on the development of industries like coal and iron, power supplies and transport. Targets were met within four years.
  • The Second Five Year Plan 1933- 1938 concentrated on water, road and rail transport. The quality of goods made improved.
  • The Third Five Year Plan 1938- 1941 concentrated on consumer goods for the people of the Soviet Union such as radios, bicycles and household goods. The plan was changed when the Soviet Union was attacked by Nazi Germany in 1941. Weapons were produced to fight the war.
