This Revision Bite will give you practice in writing Gaelic. In this subsection, we’ll look at questions where you are asked to write about your Pastimes.

Pastimes

Write about your Pastimes.

You may include the following details:

  • an outline of your pastimes / hobbies

  • where you carry out your pastimes

  • any likes / dislikes

  • what equipment you need, if any

  • what challenges there are - time, travel, weather

  • anything else you want to include

A good piece of writing should contain roughly seven paragraphs. A good rule of thumb is to include one (or two) of the details suggested in the question as individual paragraphs.

Your paragraphs may follow the details suggested. For example:

  • Paragraph 1 can cover the first bullet point and outline your pastimes.

  • Paragraph 2 can cover whether you travel or whether you stay at home to carry out your pastimes.

  • Paragraph 3 can tell about what you like and / or dislike about them.

  • Paragraph 4 can talk about whether you need special equipment or any challenges with time, travel, or weather.

  • Paragraph 5 can cover anything else you may wish to include or it can be your closing paragraph.

Make sure that you have an interesting beginning to your piece. It is always good to grab the reader’s attention at the beginning of a piece. You mustn’t forget to end well either. Your reader should feel that you have finished saying what you have to say.
