Exam Tips

  • It is important to read the questions carefully so that you will know what to look for in the text.

  • Make sure you understand exactly what the question is asking so you will choose the correct answer.

  • Don't forget to answer all parts of the question.

  • Remember that the questions can help you to understand the passage by giving little clues about the content.

  • In the weeks before the exam it is wise to do practice papers. This will improve your reading skills and widen your vocabulary.

  • Perhaps your teacher will be able to give you reading tests to do on your own at home.

  • You can use past papers to help you. You can download a past paper from the SQA website.

  • Try the Intermediate 1 and 2 past papers as well.
