Endothermic and exothermic reactions

This video shows a demonstration of two types of chemical reaction: "exothermic" (giving out heat energy) and "endothermic" (taking in heat energy).

In order to see this content you need to have both Javascript enabled and Flash installed.

Key learning points:

  • An endothermic reaction takes in energy so it gets colder.
  • An exothermic reaction gives out heat energy so it gets hotter.
