Here are some typical close reading questions. Work out what each question is asking you to do and identify which reading purpose it wants to check.
Having read the whole passage explain why the boy was excited but worried.
To gain overall impression, gist of the text
To obtain particular information from the text
To grasp ideas, feeling implied in a text
How many parcels did the boy have to deliver?
