INJUSTICE - the feature length documentary about struggles for
justice by the families of people who have died in police custody.
Injustice has been described as the most politically controversial
film of recent years. This breathtaking piece of cinema has
reduced audiences to tears with its moving portrayal of the
struggles for justice by the families of people who have died
at the hands of police officers. Injustice is an inspiring radical
feature length film showing how people came together to challenge
the state. On its release over a year ago the police tried to
censor the film by threatening cinemas. Months of fighting,
by the filmmakers and families in the film, ended in victory
with the police backing off and the film being released in cinemas
across the UK and around the world.
The first screening will be followed by a Q&A with family
members and the films directors and an informal get together
with music in the Frontiers Café Bar. |

| WHO
SEN ME? IS AT THE DRUM |
18th
October 7pm 9pm
A solo performer plays a number of male and female characters
in a bittersweet account of the lives of West Indians who came
to England in the1950's. One foot still in the islands, the
other stepping into brand new adventures. They reflect on being
back home and their time in the 'Mother Country' where they
face suspicion and hostility from some of the natives, but more
often curiosity and fascination. They imagined that they were
coming for only four or five years, England changes them, but
they change England too. Their tales resonate with those of
migrant settlers the world over - Irish, Italian, Pakistani
and Jewish. Atmospheric video projections and an evocative soundtrack
drawing on calypso, gospel, jazz, mento and pan music provide
a backdrop for the performance. |
