8 Days Late, recently signed to UB40’s label, performed an acoustic set due to the absence of a bass player.

The group played a superb ensemble of their Coldplay-esque songs, sitting on stools, their soulful tunes saddening the crowd.

The singer’s harmonies were perfectly fitted to each other and the aura they portrayed was one of complete competence.

Talented individuals, 8 Days Late held the crowd captive with their musical talent, stage presence and not a cover insight.

Reminiscent of 60’s acoustic bands, the group would not have looked out of place at Woodstock.

Solar Flare

The second band of the evening was Solar Flare. With their blend of catchy choruses and outstanding guitar playing, this band are destined for great things.

Although still not signed, they appear to have been playing for years, such is their stage presence.

With their own songs sounding very Crowded House crossed with Ocean Colour Scene, they held the audience captive for half an hour.

The mixture of strong male vocals and supporting tuneful female vocals made their songs hit straight to the heart.

A novel repertoire of songs with varying degrees of rock and a few hints of nu metal creeping through, this band could easily rival any top 20 group.

With all eyes in the room focusing on this five piece band, the audience were enthralled as Solar Flare belted out their hits, I Told You and Fifty Steps, both of which will start your foot tapping involuntarily.

That elusive X factor, certainly appears to be here with these guy’s and it makes a change to hear talented musicians who can not only play their own instruments but write their own material as well. Hopefully this is a sign the music industry might be about to boom.
