You wouldn't believe a cast of six could put on such a spectacular show until you go to see The Snow Queen.

The story's been adapted from a Hans Christian Andersen tale and is absorbing from the start. The set is marvellous, beautifully constructed and it makes you feel cold just looking at it.

The story is simple...it has to be to appeal to young children and we'd been accompanied by three six year olds.

The Snow Queen
The Snow Queen has a heart of ice and turns good to bad and light to dark...she turns Frey, the God of Spring into Jack Frost and lures away Kai who'd been living happily with his sister Gerda and grandmother and turns him into Mr Nasty.

Gerda and her Rag Doll have to rescue him from the evil Queen and they have plenty of adventures on the way.

They meet up with a family of robbers - one of whom stole a watch from one of our party during a lively run around the audience.

They also find a mean mountain troll (who made everyone jump in their seats). And then eventually, the happy ending where Kai is returned to his normal self, Jack Frost goes back to his day job as the God of Spring and the evil Snow Queen is defeated and melts away.

The songs were wonderful, the acting a delight...and all done without talking down to the children. It was funny, a little bit scary and most of all uplifting.
