Our
past
We
were formed in 1975 after a successful performance of Gilbert &
Sullivan's 'Trial by Jury', by the parishioners of Holy Trinity
Catholic Church. Producer Jean O'Connor and others involved enjoyed
the experience so much they decided to carry on - Trinity Players
was born.
Our
performances were originally staged at Bishop Walsh School, but
as the company expanded we outgrew this venue and moved to Sutton
Town Hall in 1991. Our other venue, where we perform smaller dramatic
pieces, is Sutton Arts Theatre.
Trinity
Players is affiliated to the National Operatic & Dramatic Association
(NODA). Our annual season usually comprises a major musical, a smaller
play and a Christmas charity fundraising concert.
At
the Town Hall, we have been lucky enough to have the Sutton premieres
of three newly released musicals: 'Anything Goes' (1993), 'Me and
My Girl'(2000) and 'Crazy for You' (2002).

Last
year's musical, Meredith Willson's 'The Music Man', was well received
by local press reviews. The title role was played by Robert Thomas,
one of our most prominent and experienced members.
It's
really important to us to encourage new members and for this particular
show we were very happy to welcome Rob's mother Jeanette Thomas
to a supporting role on stage after many years of encouraging her
son's efforts off-stage! Jeanette went down a storm in her debut
production and has returned for more this year.
This
season's play, Derek Benfield's 'Two And Two Together' was entered
into the Birmingham Festival of Acting & Musical Entertainment
- Birmingham FAME.
The
play was a howling success in September 2003 and saw the welcome
return to the stage of our founder member Jean O'Connor.
At
February's award ceremony, 'Two and Two Together' received awards
for Best Full Length Drama, Technical Achievement and Set Design
proving that it is not just our performers who have talent!

Our
future
We
are very excited about this year's major production (our thirtieth),
Frank Loesser's 'Guys and Dolls' (Sutton Coldfield Town Hall 11
-15 May 2004).
We
feel it is going to be Trinity Players at its best and are really
looking forward to sharing some great musical numbers with our audience
(the well known 'Luck be a Lady' and 'Sit Down You're Rocking the
Boat' are just a couple in this energetic and fun loving production).
Join
us
Trinity
Players are always ready to welcome new members whether it's for
one of our many back-stage roles like set construction and design,
front of house, or costume, or if you fancy joining people like
Rob, Jeanette, Jean and myself for all the fun of the stage!
We
currently meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at Holy Trinity Church
Hall, Lichfield Road. We are developing our own website the moment
- come back to this page soon for the web address.
